@KristianHyvarinen thanks. yes, there are a lot more videos at chess.com on every subject. as you can see if you look at our openings playlist here on youtube, we are going to have more material on the sicilian here as well: one video on each major variation. of course there is always more one could cover in this vast game.

Why you dont turn the board if im playing black?
@ChicoTunda
@ChicoTunda 3 года назад
I think it’s to keep it in line with chess notation. The c5 square will always be in the same position weather you are playing black or white.
@zero2hero17
@zero2hero17 3 года назад
@@ChicoTunda That's not true at all. If you turn the board, the numbers will turn with it. I.e. the king that starts on E8 will always be the black one.
@ChicoTunda
@ChicoTunda 3 года назад
@@zero2hero17 Thats what I am saying, It would just be a little annoying to teach because we would be seeing it as h,g,f,e,d,c,b,a 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1. This way the board is right-side up.
@zero2hero17
@zero2hero17 3 года назад
@@ChicoTunda Maybe I didn't understand you correctly. But if you play black, the board goes h8 to a8
@ChicoTunda
@ChicoTunda 3 года назад
@@zero2hero17 yes. I am saying that the reason black in the video is further away from us is that this way we see the board in it's correct orientation.

Today I countered the sicilian by advancing my king's pawn to E6 which isn't among the choices here. Which wasn't my intention it's just unnecessary to my favorite attack, against which the sicilian apparently is useless. Let me put it this way, everyone's talking about controlling the center when the other end of the board is the endzone.
@fjm1235
@fjm1235 Год назад
I usually open with queen's pawn and move to control the center whole tucking my king away. Works best for me.
