I got locked up in that police station in 1973 (and convicted in the adjoining Magistrates Court). It can't have been open very long at the time. Got the offensive weapons charges thrown out at Newcastle Crown Court, although still guilty of public order offences. 20 of us from Washington and 45 from Houghton le Spring, who we had been fighting.
Soooo you are the reason the police were nervous when I walked in to tell them I was capturing the back of Chester-Le-Street Front Street shops lol - I walked in with my bodycam on etc to tell them I was in the town to capture the back of the shops for history purposes and she just stepped back with the look of "oh fook another one".. now it makes sense! Wish i had known you were in the area buddy 🙂 Checking dates you were a day or so before me unless you delayed posting lol, I always like to announce my presence so that police time is not wasted being called out for some random pilot flying over their property... but you know.. theres always the one that doesnt read the memo 😀

My brother got locked up in here many years ago mid 90’s my dad had to go get him as he was a minor!! I thought there was a magistrates court there too?? X
