Being blind, I enjoy your conversation you talking about different things in buildings, really stations, bus stations et cetera because I can’t see anymore. Keep up Charlie did a great job
Being from upstate NY, I've never made it over to the UK. Getting to see numerous towns and cities (from a local's perspective) has been awesome. Thanks Charlie! Edit: yes, I worded it weirdly. Living where I do doesn't prohibit travel!
I do the same, I live in the area where Charlie covers but have only ever been to Florida (many years ago) l watch various guys around the US with walking cameras and have got a really good feel for the different states. Recently l watched the NYC Halloween parade which was awesome.
Thanks Charlie for covering my hometown ☺ A person from Chester is referred to as a Cestrian, yes confusing to say the least! Loved your wit, banter & comedy & you've also brought to my attention many things which I'd never noticed before, such as dates on buildings as it's easy to take things for granted & not notice details when you walk the streets & live in a place for many years. I left Chester to live in Ireland over 20 years ago, but am frequently back to visit my folks who still live there. My father also has great links with Manchester so I was please to see your Wilmslow Road / Curry Mile vlog, as many a childhood Sunday afternoon / evening was spent there. This is the first time I've commented on one of your videos & have watched many of them over the last few weeks as earlier this year, your channel was brought to my attention by Auditing Britain; it's a shame you never met when he came to Manchester! Have a truly beautiful weekend my friend 🤗
@@PaulNicholas420 i have not disparaged those who didnt receive an injection. The only attitude i disliked was the American 'take the hit if you are old to rather protect the economy' which i found very arrogant
There is actually a renewal plan in place for the area around the train station to make it more eco-friendly. Still a few years off starting work since it is a very ambitious project
Me and my family met you in Manchester a while back and you were gracious enough to stop and chat and even take a pic which I still have😃 keep up the great work! You visit places that we like and enjoy
Thanks for this vid, Charlie, saved me the effort of going to town as it's over three years since I went to the Co-Op bank (now closed 2 yrs ago). I live just over a mile away in Upton, and was born in a house near the station 72 yrs ago. I know you were impressed but Chester has traded on it's Roman heritage for many years hence lots of Asian tourists who used to wear masks in the 70' and 80's out of courtesy ton the locals. Just a couple of small points the coffee shop used to be The Regal cinema. When you stood next to the clock you were next to my Grandad's pub called The Kings Arms (know locally as The Kitchen, closed many years ago, and now a bank), and the layout of one of the rooms preserved in the museum. My Grandad used to serve the black American soldiers when other pubs wouldn't. My mum met Clarke Gable who slept there one night as the Grosvenor opposite was full. You would have found the amphitheatre interesting that's where the kids go on trips. The bus station has a grass roof. Was controversial at the time. The monk was a Franciscan St Francis Church next to magistrate Court. I'll leave it at that, you did a good job incidentally, made a change from agro vids. Chester cub.
It’s truly a magical and timeless, perhaps even romantic experience, being in the Club Class Lounge on the Irish Ferries Ulysses cruise ferry on a calm clear night in the middle of the Irish Sea out of Holyhead - the oldest trading route since Roman times, you can almost feel the sense of history
Great video tour of CHESTER the art deco Caffe Nero building was the ex ABC CINEMA closed in the 80s - dont forget they have a World Famous Award Winning ZOO in Chester they have a great breeding programme of endangered species too! - Stay Safe
What a wonderful and entertaining video, from beginning to end Charlie. Chester is full of fantastic old buildings, great to see. Your narrative and banter was on par with this one! The old fella was really nice and that guitar busker was very good. He had a John Martyn vibe with his sound. Great stuff! Peace and love to all.
Thanks for coming to Chester Charlie, great video. Still lots you didn't manage to see, wish I'd seen you out and about. The Cestrians are great people, you'll always be welcome here 🙏
Charlie you crack me up and you are a very thoughtful fellow.. Next time I am in Europe I want to visit Manchester (!) and watch you work! Brian in Houston, TX.
other major tourist destinations for Manchester should include the McDonalds and the cottaging tunnel. I never heard of the word "cottaging" until this channel...
Charlie, You constantly brighten up my day, great videos and brilliant interaction with the public, keep up the excellent work. Wishing you all the very best, Andy.
Ah, my old home town I was born in this town and grew up to age 11 in one of its suburbs, (near Upton) it is sad to think the grand old town is in decline-however you can't deny its beautiful and ancient (in parts)-I went to St Werbergh's primary, and that was hellish let me tell you 1963-6, then Woodfield in Plas Newton, then St Bede's to 1970-I am in Perth Australia now.
Back in the 60s the schools were full of child abusers who were routinely thrashing innocent children with heavy leather straps with full adult strength. And if the parents found out you were belted they would join in too.
I did that school trip with my primary school it was one of the most fun i remember At school. It definitely got me interested into Roman history that stays with me today.
100 percent love ur banter. You proper cheer my day up. Don't listen to the haters. They've got nothing better to do in their boring life, they are idiots mate. And yes M8 you've got 10s of thousands off people that love ur banter and history M8. 💯👊👊👍👍
Lovely to see Chester again a place where I have lots of good memories off. Charlie you are a class act you can talk nonsense and make it sound interesting. Keep the video’s coming 👍👍
Watched you for over 10yrs since the "Love police days" and I've always wounderd how come I never bumped into you, Then this year I finally did, YAY😁out side Morrisons piccadilly Manchester, What a pleasant guy, It was a pleasure meeting you, You asked me did I want to run along as you were soon darting off towards someone kicking off on Market Street, unfortunately I was on my way to visit my mum, as I cut through the city to visit her, You never know their maybe a next time 👋Top guy Charlie don't ever let anyone tell you differently 🤗👍👌
Original....Never been to Chester...have now...guy on the electronic guitar great tune..... Auditing seems to Have Limitless opportunities, thanks to Blogs like yours... Well done...just Keep honing your skills.
My 2 memories of Chester, Peeing in the amphitheatre on a school trip in the 70's and some cu*t in a taxi trying to run me down about 5 years ago, I like Chester.
The blues busker was good i could have listened to him all day. David was a nice friendly chap old people are interesting sometimes. Great video Charlie.
Only just came across your videos agin rescently just want to say I'm sorry for how some people have talked to you because you stand up for what you believe in and that's admirable keep it up don't ever let them silence you ✊ glad/happy I found your channel agin.
Finally a properly local CV video! Love it! Chester is definitely in decline like most other UK cities, but it is really clinging on to it's past histories. Used to be a great place to go in the 90's, heaving all the time.
Charlie, speaking purely from the perspective of a professional armour-restorer, I believe the correct term for the shields the kids are carrying is 'Oilus Barrelus' 😉⚔️ Brilliant recycling... Truly!! ANYTHING that inspires a new generation and also let's them feel the weight and imagine the toil is fine by me! ⚒️🏆👍
I saw many in the form of exterior beams& cladding, 100s if not many 100s of yrs old. Most cities old streets were narrower, with the advent of wider rds for cars room was made& trees planted. Iam sure all those preserved trunks-beams appreciate this compromise too.
"Known as "Cheerful" Charlie Chester, he was well known to British audiences in the 1940s from his BBC radio show Stand Easy. This show was adapted for television as The Charlie Chester Show in 1949 and became a stand up and sketch show for the next 11 years. Chester's radio shows included A Proper Charlie and That Man Chester. Another series - which started out as a section of The Charlie Chester Show in 1950 - was the quiz Pot Luck, the first British TV programme to offer prizes for correctly answering questions."
@@therespectedlex9794 Mr Veitch goes by the name of Charlie and he has just visited Chester in a comedic and jovial manner and one felt the urge to remind younger viewers of ‘Charlie Chester’ and as Mr Veitch is obviously now a fan of the city, he may now consider changing the name of his channel to ‘Charlie Chester’. Thank you for your enquiry.
My ex-boyfriend Lorcan grew up in Chester as a child, having been born in London after his parents met in Australia and they moved back to Ireland when he was a teenager
The two clear bulbs you see are infrared lights, what you see when you record a camera at night and see the light emitting from it on camera but invisible outside of a red glow to the human eye. This is how cameras have night vision. Any DOME style PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) camera will have IR sensors, some visible but most hidden under a tinted cover.
Those new type of cctv camera apparently are the same facial recognition devices used in China. In London, these were installed over the lock downs. Great channel Mr V 👊
Ted Bus, ues im aware you guys are a little further forward than the UK, im from there but moved away years ago. I was trying to explain this to my work colleague just the other day, i said they look like those binocular things you used to see at the seaside to look out over the ocean. Now you can see where i was coming from.
The opening music blew me away - though not as much as the cost of the CD I just paid for on Ebay!! Can't complain. And I'm grateful for Charlie's taste in music; he is educating me.
Charlie thanks for Showing my Regiment Museum , The 22nd Cheshire Regiment moto Ever Glorious 1689 to 2007 . You should have taken a tour around. Just a little information about the crown courts Mira Hindly and Ian Brady were also convicted there. They also were arrestest in my home Town of Hyde. Love Chester
That pub was built in 1500 ish then in 1939 during a skirmish it was clipped by bales of cocaine thrown from a Cessna 172. Apparently all the builders were getting high while they worked on the roof, they say they got the cocaine bear movie idea from a Easter visit to Chester but that was back in the day, before we shipped all our bears to Canada. I had to sub Charlie because you are spoiling us.
I come here for your exploring and commentary and everything else you give us with your video. Keep up the good work lad. Next stop Newcastle AB just been up my way would love to meet you in person. All the best 👍
Love the outlook in your videos, I live in Chester, (I’m fairly new here 8 years) good to see no crackies gave you any trouble except for a finger transformed into a wave, I’m now going through all your videos!
Omg can’t believe you came to Chester, sorry I missed you, love the video and your great humour 👏😂 I know those jahova witnesses, they used to knock on my house, brilliant!!
"York's cathedral, although known as York Minster, is officially the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York . By definition a cathedral is the site of a bishop's throne (a cathedra) but the word 'cathedral' did not come into use until after the Norman conquest."
People from Chester are called Cestrians. The c is pronounced as in ice. I live a few miles from Chester and have visited many times. One thing I was surprised you didn't mention was the rows, the shops above the shops. I don't know if they are unique to Chester, but they are certainly unusual. The remarks about Chester being fake were a bit silly. All buildings have to be maintained and updated if they are to remain useful, and it's not exactly a secret that they have been rebuilt and altered over time. Chester has been maintained a lot more tastefully than most places. Sadly, Chester has its own small army of crackheads who wander through the city. Some of them are very noisy and unpleasant. Nowhere near as bad as Manchester, but bad enough. The quality of buskers is very high in Chester. Unfortunately, some of them are annoyingly loud. I like Chester a lot, but not at night at weekends.
I’m only too well familiar with Chester station, both summer & winter, daytime and overnight - when coming from Manchester Piccadilly Platform 13, I’ve almost missed the connecting train to Holyhead on SailRail - and after overnight crossings from Dublin after a 4 hour wait at Holyhead the previous night, trying to get back to Manchester - during the train strike, we went to every station between Lladnuo Junction and Chester and on another occasion we went by a brand new coach from Bangor to Holyhead
Dear Charles Please look to finish each & every video playing out with some of the live street music that you find! It will be a stroke of editing genius! Thank you very much & Crack on Charlie!! 😉👍💥 K~A
