Chester Thompson speaks of his time with Genesis and his disappointment at not being asked to play on 'Calling All Stations,' working with Zappa and why Ringo is a good drummer. Also, the best drummer joke ever!

I know Chester and can assure anyone seeing this that not only is he a great musician and drummer, he is every bit as nice, kind and considerate as he appears to be in this video. For someone of such a giant stature in the drumming world he is exceptionally humble and real. This makes it all the more wonderful to see him being interviewed here.

I always liked Chester's way of playing Genesis' songs. Very complementary to what Phil recorded and also when playing alongside Phil. A lot of what they did together shaped my own approach to playing musically on the toms and changed the way I tune them. I was lucky enough to see Chester play with Genesis twice on the Mama tour. The man is a legend and seems to be a beautiful soul. God bless him.

Chester, you are a drumming hero and inspiration. You were perfect on Ripples in 2007 and on Tonight, Tonight, Tonight in 1987 - both are standout highlights for me. I was then stunned by your chops and delicate touch with The Chester Thompson Trio. You have also been a complete gentleman, and an example of how to behave with class, since Phil was out of order during Going Back live… but I won’t dwell on that! Somehow Collins, Rutherford don't come actoss as graceful, specially if one considers how they treated him when they decided to part ways. Collins' drumming was unique, specially before he started to sing, Rutherford really was just a passenger in Genesis compared to Hackett; none of that compares to where this legend has been: Zappa, Weather Report, Santana...
