Great video. The Bristol Lodekkas bring back great memories for me in North Wales.

@@Merseywail Yes it certainly was. I've travelled on most of the different models when I was a youngster during the 60's. I particularly liked the later front entrance models with flouresant lighting. They all looked businesslike with the driver and conductor wearing their uniforms. For me they still look very credible today. I love seeing them at the Llandudno Extravaganza, Classic Transport show.

The United Counties bus brings back a lot of memories, I did my apprenticeship at Hitchin and Luton depots

I do like the Bristol VRs. As well from the Crosville ones, the ones I regularly seen in Liverpool were the MPTE ones with the bustle style rear

Cheers for that MW and a very happy New Year. I really enjoyed that video, a real trip down memory lane. Loved Crosville especially the Lodekas, they were a cut above the rest. In the 70's there was cheap way of going all the way to Bangor on Crosvilles as the maximum fare was 20p, took an age like, but so did the trains with those super slow diesel railcars. Great filming from the Atlantian, Chester don't seem to have changed much since the last time I visited about 15 years ago. Wish I'd been there, so thanks Drive for sharing the ride.

Cheers, & a happy new year to you. The buses of the past had so much character. Probably why I enjoy these running days so much. They bring back so many good memories. Sadly there wasn't any in Chesters lovely chocolate & cream livery this year. That was always something that stood out for me whenever I visited Chester. Still a lovely city though

@@Merseywail You're right there. Going on holiday to Rhyl or Llandudno the first thing you noticed as a kid was the exotic livery on the buses, loved the blue and white in Wallasey, and well the Wirral was dead sophisticated , compared to the Corpies. When we were kids visiting Chester our parents would drop us off in the reading room of the Cathedral while they walked round the Rows. OMG I crave for Liverpool, but only viewed through the lens of how it was at the time.

I have seen some single deck Chester buses in preservation, but can't remember what they were

I’ve seen some of the green buses not in Liverpool but I think I saw them at Norwich when I was very young and used to live in Norfolk.

They will be the Bristol VRs. They could be found in most National bus company subsidiaries. They were good buses

Sad that there are no videos, photos even of Crosville's FLF coaches.

Maybe you can help, in my youth we often travelled on Crosville buses. A few times we would travel on a bus that had the aisle on the top deck lowered by about 12 inches and situated along the nearside, we called them country buses. I always assumed these were Lodekkas but that doesn't seem to be the case and the Leyland Titan has the aisle on the offside. Any suggestions? Maybe I'm getting me sides mixed up. Thanks for the video.

The Bristol lodekas had reduced height by means of the chassis design, whereas the the low bridge double deckers had the offside sunken gangway to achieve low hight. Am more familiar with Liverpool corp & Ribble buses. They generally didn't require low bridge buses on Merseyside, but there were some. The lower deck passengers often bashed their heads on that lowered gangway
