A really great band, although their name always confused me when I was young- I had never heard of Chesterfield Kings cigarettes, and where I grew up (across Lake Ont from these guys) people of my folks' generation called large couches "Chesterfields" (some folks still do). Consequently I thought their name just indicated that they were a bunch of lazy guys that sat on the chesterfield watching TV all the time....
As lameass and rigged and boy band type shit as Greg Prevost thought this show was, I have to say the computer graphics of the video shrinking into a black elevator door frame going up the pole (to the 99th floor, apparently!) was literally the most creative thing that ever happened on "Basement Tapes". He should also be happy he was on one of the scant few episodes in which everybody's names were on the screen. They sure stopped doing that quick. Brian Diamond couldn't be bothered to learn how to spell them. Heck, he could barely be bothered to learn how to spell the bands' names. If he got your band name spelled correctly, consider yourself blessed.
