I am recording this on a first generation of Chevy Cruze. Process will be the same on newer models as well, only difference will be the location of a low pressure charging port.
First you will have to purchase a/c recharge kit which consists of ac recharge hose with gauge and usually two a/c refrigerant cans.
Connect one side of the hose to the a/c low pressure port and attach the refrigerant can to the other side. Pierce the can by turning the knob on top of the can and start the engine. Turn A/C on, set fan speed to the highest setting and turn cabin air circulation on.
Now proceed outside and slowly start turning the knob on top of the can counter clockwise as shown in the video. Keep monitoring the gauge as you don't want to overcharge the a/c system. That could cause damage to the a/c compressor. Once you are done and happy with the results disconnect everything.
This will work in case there is no leaks in the a/c lines and a/c compressor is working. In case of problems you will have to take the vehicle to the shop for the proper diagnostics. If there is a small leak in the a/c lines you can try using a/c sealant.
Thanks for watching.

What happens after you install the line with the gage and it reads in the red before adding any freon?

Hi, that would mean a/c is charged up, possibly even overcharged. Make sure the connection is tight and clipped in all the way, this happened to me few times when hose didn't clip in all the way

@QuiteAlright that was my thought so tried to release some of the pressure to get it in the safe zone, I'll get back with you on the results

@@QuiteAlright Same here -- I have a 2014 cruze 2nd owner and first time adding freon. Its blowing hot air and I never added any in 6 years so I assume it empty. it started blowing warmer air last summer. Bought a bigger can with gauge followed exact direction and the needle is buried in the red. Is this normal or do I need to go get it serviced? no clue why the compressor or system would be faulty now.

@@queennine If gauge is in red than it is possible system is overcharged now. Maybe the problem wasn't low level of refrigerant. Could be failed a/c compressor, a/c clutch fuse, wiring, etc.
