After some online research I arrived to your video. I am towing a Grand Design Reflection 28RL (with solar) with a 2024 Silverado 2500. Headed out for a camping weekend during Thanksgiving (battery was low + cloudy skies on the way there) the warning did not show up once. However, on the way back (after being plugged in for 3 days, full battery, sunny) the check trailer wiring/brake disconnect/connect message came up around 40 times in a 3 hour drive! I am pretty confident I am having the issue you described in the video. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. I wonder if putting a blocking diode on the plug cable which would prevent current from trailers solar panel from going to the trailer brake module in the truck. The blocking diode allows current to flow in one direction which in your case is from truck to trailer but not from trailer to truck. Good luck finding a solution. I would trust Grand Design long before I trusted GM. Thanks, RT

***UPDATE*** There was mention that the new software update that Chevrolet pushed would fix this issue. We installed that update prior to a four hour drive day and the results we as follows. We made the first 3 hours of the drive without incident. We stopped at a rest area and I tuned the truck off. When we got back in we had 2 disconnects rather quickly, but then it connected for the remainder of the trip. That's honestly the best performance we have had out of this since we first hauled the trailer back in May. I would be a lot more confident in this situation if we had no disconnects at all, but at this point at least we are moving in the right direction. I'll post another update after out next move. That is supposed to be later this wee, but we may extend where we are so it could be longer.

1 of the wires in the 7 pin connector is a hot wire. It allows the truck to charge the camper battery. Follow that wire from the 7 pin on the camper to the connection point. Probably a fuse or breaker around the tongue area. Disconnect that. If your camper batteries area maintained by solar you really don't need the truck. That should do it.

Just 1 lead acid battery. I pulled the fuse on the truck that charges the trailer battery (slot 84 I believe) and the trailer brakes immediately connected. So I tried towing without the fuse and the brakes never disconnected until I got just about home and hit a bump at which point I got the check trailer wiring message (can’t remember if the brakes disconnected or not though - hope it was just coincidence hitting the bump). That's both interesting and concerning. For us it does seem to be an issue with the charge level of the trailer battery. If we dry camp overnight and have a less full battery in the morning, we don't get disconnects until much later in the day. I am assuming that is because the trailer battery is then fully charged and causing the fault. Do you have anything else charging the battery? A generator maybe? This helped & it happens less frequently, I can even do a whole trip sometimes with out it cutting out. But it can still happen. I thought it was the brakes, but all seemed good there. I will try using the battery cut off switch in the trailer next time to isolate the battery & generator. We have pre-wire for solar but we have no solar panels so it isn't the solar thing for us. I have a 2024 3500 gas with the high output alternator as well as aux battery. I have have this same issue with my 2021 Coachmen 298RLS 5th wheel. Been battling it for months. The dealer has replaced the brake controller as well as the brake control module up above the spare tire. I have also installed a Pollak blade style 7-way plug per their request. They keep telling me it's my trailer and likely a bad ground somewhere in the trailer wiring. They have made me drive around with two different testers that simulate a trailer and brake magnets and neither has given an error. This makes GM say that it is my trailer and not the truck. But these testers do not provide voltage back to the module from my understanding. Which wouldn't simulate a true trailer with a battery. I have multiple trailers and this happens even with my 2008 travel trailer with a single battery and no solar. I do NOT have solar or a generator on either trailer. Absolutely dangerous. Once I found the bulletin I decided to try disconnecting my RV battery to prevent any possibilty of back feeding from the trailer battery and test pulling it. I did not get another warning or any issues with the brakes on my test run of 30 miles. Everything seems to work as intended without a battery connected. Seems to have cured the issue. So clearly this happens even without solar or other charging methods. I am looking into witing a one way/diode on the 12v wire to the 7way plug to see if that fixes the issue for the time being. You can't just use your built in battery disconnect as this only stops power from the battery to the coach. The battery still charges from the truck power on the 7 way. I do not want to run around without my battery connected as there is nothing to power the brakes in the event of an emergency breakaway scenario. However, it is safer to drive with properly functioning trailer brakes for now. Just wanted to share my experience to help any others with the same issue.
