You're welcome! I regret oil spraying my truck. The headlight rubber seals are now swelling and protruding. At least my spring noise is fixed. Be careful and aware if you plan to oil your truck.
I have a 2019 Canyon with the same issue. It does go away in colder weather but as soon as the heat comes back it creaks like crazy. I have undercoated 2 times so far and have the electronic rust module cause I dont like a rusty truck. You are right, they do not make them like they use to!!
My truck was fixed and I didn't hear any creaking until recently. It's been very hot and I think those little plastic/rubber pads are starting to degrade again. I'll see how it goes when the weather gets cooler out. If its creaking, l will order that kit I mentioned. Hopefully that fixes things.
Getting my TSB done on the transmission fluid did wonders switching to the Mobil1 LV HP full synthetic ATF as per the TSB is the cure for the 8speed in my ZR2
The fluid change did make a difference for my truck too! I don't seem to have any issues with my transmission at this point. I'm glad to hear some positive feedback on that TSB!
Clunk solved, But hey bud you got some serious rust growing under that shiny exterior, did you ever notice it ? You can salvage that in a few words, Wool Wax or Fluid Fill, Wool Wax is Lanolin it just plain protects your shiny Blackness
I did oil spray my truck every fall. The underneath looked better than the camera showed it to be. I've heard good things about wool wax. Might try that stuff next fall, if I can get my hands on some up here in the great white north lol! 👍
I was lucky, my dealer fixed mine under warranty. There are aftermarket kits that likely work better to eliminate the clunking. The o.e.m. spring isolators are plastic and will wear out quickly. In any case, the clunk is more of a nuisance than and real serious problem. Hope you get your fixed at some point. 👍
what kind of undercoating was sprayed on? Ill have to check my springs out now. My door rubber is swelling from the oil and it kind of looks like crap! I used NH Oil undercoating.
I had a clear heavy drip less undercoating applied. The type of oil it was, that I'm not certain about. I too had noticed swelling of the rubber seals around my headlamps. Door seal rubber looks ok though. The undercoating definitely affected my springs. The rubber spacers where very soft and had a gum like consistency. I will never again use any type of oil undercoating. From my understanding, even products such as Crown will also cause damage to the soft rubber used in newer vehicles. I hope this info is of some help, cheers!
Seems like it, doesn't it? Cutting costs and corners only makes the end product feel cheap. My springs were repaired under warranty, but after a hot summer are starting to make noise again. It's frustrating, I'll have to find another fix for the noise. Too bad that a quality product can't be made to begin with. It sucks!
@@lilredcrvtt Nobody makes a perfect product. It comes down to picking the one you like best and living with its flaws or quirks. I have a 2018 Colorado extended cab LT with the V6. It only has 11k miles. Zero issues now but if and when something needs attention I'll just accept it and keep on trucking. I love this thing!
I do have a part number, its 84855893 (inserts 8 pieces) 88861418 (sealant 1 piece) There is a service bulletin for this also, it is # 17-NA-394 you may get this covered under that. I'm also looking into the spring-things.com kit if my spring noise reoccurs. I hope this information is of help to you.
@@lilredcrvtt oh that’s cool, but $29.95 for 4 pieces of die cut rubber and zip ties? That might be as much as $5.00 worth if materials, seems a little steep to me! Seems I could take a cheep mud flap, cut myself into rectangular shapes, with zip ties, to save myself at least $20! I have had that clunking noise since the day I drove it off the lot. But I always keep the windows up, an Apple Music turned up!
It was more of a clunk on my truck than a squeak. It was the plastic shims between the leaf springs that degraded. Once the new ones where installed, the clunking stopped.
