I met two of my heroes-Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner-at Barnes & Noble in LA. They were promoting their co-authored book together. They could not possibly have been sweeter, or funnier. It felt a bit like finding out Santa Claus really exists. One of the happiest afternoons of my life.

Just imagine the ego and arrogance one needs to think that it is ok to assault someone as a joke. .

Chevy is a sad guy. I feel kind of sorry for him, he must have had a crazy childhood or something to end up so miserable.

I was a huge Dolphins fan growing up and a huge Dan Marino fan...saw him walking into a steak house in Orlando (he was in town for one of those QB Challenge shows they used to do in the offseason)...I was waiting outside in line for a table with my GF and he and a couple friends walk by about 20 feet away and I recognized him and blurted out Danny!!! He turned looking like perhaps it was someone he knew and when he saw me smiling like a school girl and recognized he didn't know me, he just gave a nonchalant wave and nod and kept walking. But he was very cool about it...I was smiling for about a month after that. Danny was a cool cat.

I remember as a grade schooler I had this teacher I thought was cool and he was mean to me. It hurt. Getting slapped hurts physically but you realize that you can still admire a talent but understand a guy is a jerk too.By the way, I met sports stars, political celebrities like former VP Hubert Humphrey and Sen Ed Muskie and all were super cool. I met Danny Bonaduce of the Partridge Family who was wonderfully friendly. Even rocker and former Kiss guitarist Vinnie Vincent who was kindly too. Thank God all were decent and some more than kind but no one slapped me thank heavens.

My parents took my brother to Disneyland when he was really young, around '84. They were unpacking the stroller and had a lot of trouble with it. This guy came over and said, "My daughter has one just like this." Unpacked the stroller, nodded, said some sort of goodbye. My mom was like, "That was Chevy Chase." My dad had no idea who it was.

Exactly why it’s not good to idolize people. Narcissists will continue to Dish our disrespect if we keep taking it.

Chevy is a weird cat in interviews. I guess that makes his acting more impressive, but he was always a likeable leading man.

Was this before or after his nasty 2002 roast? You think he would've learned something when none of his SNL co-stars showed up. He was bawling after the roast. It's hard to feel sorry for someone who burns so many bridges with people.

One positive story. My brother and my mom were on the subway going to a Ny Met World Series game in the 1970’s. As my brother tells it, this gentleman started talking to my mom and made her laugh. My brother told her later “That was Chevy Chase”.

You don't slap someone for interrupting. who the f does he or anyone think he is? You say hey I'm in the middle of a effing conversation and either wait or leave. Let him try that with Chuck Zito or Arnold Schwarzenegger or someone like that and he'll be eating smoothies for life

I'd just like to say that I'm disappointed in this video because as I was reading comments and the video stopped and it went to a commercial and it like ripped the comments right out of my sight and threw me back to the top of the page where I had to scroll down to where I was reading, completely disappointing....
