Love your channel Mike! I’m 71, been doing this shit all of my life, and I still pick up tips from you! I’m retired now, but always work on my own vehicles. Great that you’re taking in the young ones, and passing the trade along. Not parts changers, Mechanics, like the word itself!
My day is going great. I replaced the left front cv axle of my daughters Honda CRV. Good thing I have a portapower to separate the inner cv joint from the intermediate axle shaft.
We built a big wooden table about 2’ tall with heavy duty swivel wheels for setting subframes or dropping engine/transmission setups when needed. Helps line it up when you need to make minor movements. Great stuff as always Mike
I'm surprised that GM would make a vented oil cap as a fix for that problem. Having a vented oil cap would be defeating the purpose of having a closed crankcase ventilation system, and would not meet emissions standards.
Interesting root of the problem. Besides the obvious, a poor design, could it be avoided by let's say better oil maintenance? I only ask because something caused that hole to plug up or every one of those engines would be in the same condition. Good video, Mike...thanks.
Is there any late model, domestically made, vehicle that doesn't have some bank account draining issue that could strike without warning before they reach 100k?
