Hang out while I document a simple engine build, my daughter 1st car, and I want it right. Cross your fingers on the 1st start up when the day comes because who knows, I may screw this up 😆 Part 2 • 2013 gmc terrain engin...
What’s up Brad. I had a question I’m working on a terrain with a. 2.4 having issues with the high pressure pump that mount on the head. New pump installed but it has a hard time to be good at idle. Do you know any common symptoms or problems with the motorthat may cause an issue. It’s me Joel from Oreillys from a few years back 😂
@joelruiz3377 sup Joel... This may sound crazy, but if you had high pressure fuel pump issues, and no codes with poor idle. Then change the engine oil. What happens is that the fuel can leak into the engine from fuel pump, causing rich conditions and poor idle. Because the fuel vapors get ingested through the pcv system. Do this if you haven't. To reinforce this idea you have fuel in engine oil. Check your long term fuel trims in live data, this can be access with generic scanner that have live data. If your LONG TERM TRIMS are over -20 then you likely have fuel in your oil. You can smell the oil at the dip stick and it'll smell like gas Also, check your throttle body. At idle in computer live data, the throttle body shouldn't be over 14%. If it is, clean the throttle body and disconnect the battery, short the free standing wires to enable a hard reset. This should cause the throttle body to forget it's learned values. If not, you'll need a scan tool to preform this relearn. If this don't work, check for codes and get back with me... but I got my money on the oil being the issue. The oil control valve can get stuck also causing poor idle. Pull them out and look for metal on the screen. Clean and reinstall. There many other reasons but this was off the top of my head
@@partsshooter ok yea thanks for the tips I will definitely check the specs with my scanner. I have changed the oil because it was looking rough. No gas smell tho tbh. But I have done throttle body relearn and still have a bad rough idle. Only codes coming up are for the high pressure pump but I will definitely be checking the oil pressure pick up. I will definitely kee in touch bro. Thank you again. For the tips. I stay watching some of your videos because they do help me out when we work in similar cars 😂 I still live down the road from you bro..I’ll stop by one of these days Thanks again Brad. 👍🏽
