Chevy pickup truck wipers stop working in the rain! How to fix! 1500 2500 s10 

Not sure how I ran across your video. I am a retired automotive instructor and I wish to compliment you on your knowledge and your video. It is nice to see someone who actually knows how to diagnose and repair something. Today we live in a disposable society. Technicians today are taught to just replace the part. I understand that sometimes time is money and it may prove to actually be cheaper to just replace a part. I was taught at a time where the big 3 gm, ford ,Chrysler were still instructing technicians on how to repair a component. Once again great video.. best wishes..

Thanks. I have a 23-year-old Chevy S10, over those years I have had several wiper failures events. I replaced the motor once and this is my second time reheating soldered joints. It is clear now that I have had only two problems, a bad ignition switch and bad soldered joints. I have gone several months with intermitting wiper problems, not considering that the soldered joint would be bad again, I replaced the ignition switch for the 2nd time but it did not help. Your explanation of why the soldered joints go bad was extremely helpful in encouraging me to revisit the soldered joints, now my problem is resolved. Also, in the past, I removed the complete motor assembly, which was time-consuming, removing only the front plate to gain access to the circuit board saved me hours. Again, thanks.

Thanks! Helped me fix my wipers today, but where to look. Solder was tight, but the bottom left of the board had some contamination with shorted it to the body. Removed the board, cleaned with alcohol and electroncs contact cleaner, some dielectric grease around the edge of the cover, and voila! Thanks! 99 'burb still rollin'

I have a 02 Malibu that only worked on high speed, took the board out and cleaned those contacts and re soldered those connections. Works in all modes now!

You mentioned that the coating didn't cover the entire board. There's are lines showing how far the liquid should go. Great video thanks!

That was a great presentation. I got the word about the intermittent wipers and was told to remove the card and clean out the old grease with new grease. Clean the contacts. I did and it worked fine for awhile, the the same problem. I would check occassionally to see if they worked, but the wouldn't, rain or shine, hot or freezing. Then I tapped the unit with a rubber mallet and it worked. Now they broke, wipers. Should try to re-solder the joints. Might have to replace the card. Anyway, your video was right on.

My problem is a little different, wipers won't stop when I turn them off, or if they do stop, they stop only half way down. However, I do believe is probably the same problem so I'll go over the board, and contacts, and we will see what happens! Thanks for the video!

It is not weight that causes the solder to crack it is heat plus cheap solder reheating will work but for long term or to prevent from happening again solder needs to be removed with a solder sucker and replaced with a quality solder
