If only it was stick. I'm trying to decide on weather I want to manual swap my half ton burb 6.5 and there's no reference, and I'd hate to cut the truck up and not like it. :/
I do love that sound, with all the HMMWVs I served with in the military and my own H1, mmmm, that 6.5 TD, she may not be the greatest in the world, but I love her just the same.
I have to say I really am impressed with my '93 6.5 turbo Detroit too. It's powerful enough and gets good fuel mileage too. These engines get a bad rap for no reason.
Yes i know its not the best to get warm air like that, i had to remove stock filter to get the diesel heater to fit better.. its on the ”to do” list to fix it 😅
I had a 94 Chevy suburban 2500 diesel battalion chief suv at the suburban Chicago fire department I served at I had it from 1994-2010 when it was retired and sold
Beautiful truck! Are your injectors original? The reason I ask is that I have recently replaced my injectors with brand new AC Delco; my truck has the same injector sound as yours. They sound louder since I've replaced them; and I am wondering if they are louder when brand new.
Thx, i dont think mine are replaced but i Belive mine are bad and leaks s bit and that causes the louder ”knocking noise” and higher fuel consumation but idk.. are you notising any diferense if its harder on fuel after change?
Honestly the 96 model body is my favorite of the 90s, how much would you value your truck at and how many miles you got? What's your personal opinion when it comes to reliability on that old girl?
They are nice! Now it has alot of mods, 6”rc lift kit, 13000lb winch, Webasto heater and more stuff so i guess around 8-10k dollars. 193k miles and i take care of it and change oil and i think it is reliable, havent had any major problems yet.
Late to the party but my 96 gasser had 230k miles on it when I sold it and had very few problems on original trans and engine and it had been used to tow a boat early in its life I sold it and the kid that bought it daily drives it to this day
Man in 2014 I passed up a truck just like yours different color a 6.5 diesel in a 1500 is rare, guy wanted 9500$ he also had a 95 Silverado with 105,000 miles on it I bought the gas Silverado instead he sold it for 4,500$ wish I would have bought the diesel instead
@@kylekulikova6008 thanks man I did make a good decision cause I still drive the truck and its runs good enough I'm gonna fix the body repaint it again so it looks brand new
@@bryanblood7063 two people I knew had a 6.5 Detroit the first guy had it for a year before it shit the bed and the second mind you the truck was clapped, but he was putting a new engine in it within 3 months chevy has made decent trucks but only a handful of the 6.5s aren’t junk
@@kylekulikova6008 oh ok I wasn't aware the 6.5 wasn't good, cause there gas engine trucks go forever for the most part. I bought the truck I have in 2014 it's not my every day vehicle but I snow plow 18 driveways in the winter with it and drive it here and there. It's funny cause my wife thought I was making a dumb purchase but she drove it for 2 years and put 50,000 miles on it.
Ikr 😅 I junked my ol 93 Silverado ( but gas engine, but I loved the sound it had) about 11mths ago and now I've just found another one but it has the 6.5L diesel 1500
Most people told me that it was bad/leaking injektors so i run som inj cleaner in it and it runs better but not perfect, did also change vacuum pump but that didnt change anything 🤷♂️ heard that the harmonicbalanser also can cause nocking noise.
@@yamahasm340 mine bogs on start until it clears up and makes this sound I wonder if it's injectors. Im trying cleaner but it doesn't seem to help much.
I wish they had this truck with the 6.5L Detroit Diesel V8 in Forza Horizon 4 And not need to pay real money to get it honestly that's stupid to pay real money for a truck that's in a game -_-
@@1oldskoolluvr it's not expensive if you do the work. And get lucky n find the right block. The point of it all is you can blow this shit up and still have your truck back on the road for a grand and one weekend of your time.
@@yamahasm340 7-15 total? Something is seriously wrong.I had a 1992 K2500 with the 6.5L and 4:10 gears, and I actually got 18 MPG at the most when I had it,now my M1025 with 5:24 gears and the same engine only does 15 MPG.Even my M1009 with the 6.2L and 3:08 gears easily gets 20 MPG.
@@Icutmetal yes there is a 6.5L Detroit but there is also a Motors built by General Motors they were gasoline converted diesels Chevrolet was the one who put diesel engines in their trucks first and they were aspirated where is this one is turboed so this one is the Detroit I do agree with you but there's also a different design
@@Mrright-fi2fm You’re getting there...keep learning. You’re thinking of the 5.7l GM/Oldsmobile diesel. The 6.2 & 6.5 were produced by Detroit Diesel for GM, and had nothing in common with the 5.7.
