that noise was the IAC (Idle Air Control) motor. It failed and that is why it won't idle. You can replace just the IAC motor for less then it would cost to replace the entire Throttle body Assembly. Just and FYI for anyone using this video as a diagnosis step.
One great video, helped me change mine on my 04 and two its an 4.2 inline 6 cylinder not V6( sorry if i sound like a snob, im not trying to just correcting a small mistake) the video was great however very informative and helpful
Please help. I have a 2002 trailblazer LS and when I drive it cold or the first time after a few hours, it will idle fine besides a few little weird “hiccups” it feels like, then I put it in drive and begin on my way. After I’ve been in the gas for maybe 3 seconds it will start to run very very rough and want to die. It used to stall but I changed the fuel filter and MAP sensor and it doesn’t stall anymore but it does run rough. When it’s running rough, it will either go away in its own or if I’m in a hurry I shut it off and start it back up and continue without a problem. When I hold the gas when it’s running rough it doesn’t like that and it makes it worse, but if I tap it repeatedly I pick up way more speed than I do holding it. This morning when I got to work, I parked and got out like normal. I was walking to work and I heard my throttle body make a weird noise like it just closed(I only know the sound because I’ve heard it before). Also idk if this is normal but I can push my throttle body closed all the way and it will open a little bit to where mine seems to rest at but still looks closed. If I hook my scanner up to it with live data, without the engine running the it says the throttle body sits at 10-20% open and then if I push the gas all the way down, the throttle body doesn’t open all the way, only a little little bit. I haven’t looked at the throttle body while the engine is running. Any help is greatly appreciated.. thanks
I had a bad throttle body that was giving me a code and running very rough and then I bought and installed a brand new throttle body that is now giving me a throttle position sensor code.
2:31 how does that thing unplug ??? Ive got it off but that som bitch is on there tight. Even prying with a screwdriver. I stopped before I screwed something up
