I've owned 8 chevy g20 vans and Yes you can get it back on the road but you can find those vans all day still running for 400-2,000$. Ive had 2 for 400 that were both good runners. A few for 1,000$ that I got tens of thousands of miles out of. I never paid over 2k for any of the 8 I owned. Only 1 of those ever had a major issue (transmission) otherwise it was just a few waterpumps (30$ at oreillys!) Radiators (130$ for this van!) And some tires belts and hoses along the way. They are my favorite vans. I got one for 1,900 with 063,000 original miles (with the 0 in front of the mileage, actual) in amazing condition, it was a wheelchair van. 95 gmc rally stx emerald metallic green paint bought in California no rust at all I drove it 20,000 miles and sold it for 7,000$ after I installed a hightop roof, big tires, brush guard, and made it a camper van. You can bring that van back to life pressure wash the whole outside you should drop the tank and empty the old fuel and spray two cans of brake cleaner in the tank and wish wash side to side empty it put new fuel pump and filter fully tune up and oil change and just drive it and start restoring it little by little
I got mine for 300.00 dollars. It had under a hundred thousand miles. Started right up after sitting for a long time. It sat so long under the trees it had turned brown and green from pollen and dust.
So what's the story on this? I just bought a 95 G20 350ci three weeks ago w/71k miles that runs great. That van seems worthless with all its going to need.
You can lose 3 amps of battery draw by pulling the plug on the alternator. When it cranks slow like that the draw will drain the battery. You don't need the alternator to start the engine, but just remember to plug it back in if it starts....Just saying 'Mike ( my ride----> 84 GMC G3500 Vandura I ton 90.000 original mi. 350 sbc Quadrajet )
Pick n pull junk yard sells All hightop van roofs for 100$ you remove it yourself. Ive done 2 by myself and it cost under 200$ total even after paying a friend to help me lift it up and go to the junkyard with me. And yes mine had windows on the rood just like this one.
