Erm? the automatic fire only works with Furious Bowcaster active as far as i know as the normal one is semi-automatic charge based with the Max charge ADS being a single powerful bolt that does a lot of damage and Hip-fire is a 5 bolt spread
As Chewie main, a few tips :) - The combination of Shock Grenade + Furious Bowcaster is pretty deadly in HVV since you leave enemies exposed to at least 2 - 3 shots from your buffed bowcaster. This combined with the Shocked and vulnerable starcard is just crazy (or, you can run the star card that shocks enemies for a longer time instead). Just make sure you activate the furious bowcaster hability BEFORE using the shock grenade, the animation of the first is a bit long and you won't make the most out of the stun. - In HVV always have either Charge Slam or Shock Grenade available for use in case a saber villain is closing up to you. These habilities can save your life in those situations. - Shock Grenade + Charge slam is also a good combination in GA/Supremacy. It lets you close distance to your enemies without taking damage and then taking them out with the slam. - Never stop shooting!! Your weapon will not overheat wich will overwhelm your enemies and let your teammates advance. - Chewie's melee its pretty deadly, do not underestimate it, you can take out a low health villain with your bare hands. Chewie is a great hero to use and it can be pretty deadly when used correctly!! I recommend getting used to the mechanics in HVV and then trying him on the other modes. In GA-Supremacy-Coop just remember to not go too crazy, after all is very easy to get all hyped and get killed in 5 seconds lol. Hope this is useful!!
It never used to be! It was changed towards the end of the games lifespan, but it used to charge up when you held it down rather than become automatic!
What’s nice as a Chewie main is having him available in all 3 eras. If ur grinding republic coop for example randoms tend to pick the Jedi, so chewie can go off on certain maps
Yeah I just got into Chewie but there’s one thing I struggle with is keeping my distance. Typically if I can keep my distance I ran out of abilities for when they get up close. Any help? Thank you!
Hey, you forgot something insanely strong about Chewie, mostly in HvV but it can be useful sometimes in GA. His bowcaster makes Boba's jetpack overheat when he is flying and it can makes him fall. Very useful to keep a Boba on the floor and help your teammates killing him. Plus, Chewie's melee is very strong, he deals 85 damage and the first melee hit you do on someone is a critical hit (like every blaster hero + Palpatine) and so it deals twice the damage (so 170). Very useful to deal with a saber hero with a good dodging game. And of course, all of his shots deal damage through the saber block. All of these tips make Chewie a loooot better, he is hard to play but he is (by far) one of the best Lightside hero (in HvV)
Focusing on aiming, making every shot count, and also timing as far as dodges and using your melee are also really important with Chewie in my experience.
Chewie is my main, level 560+, I love the challenge! I run bonus health, impervious and the card that splits the shock grenade into more parts. I never take that card off, the ability to consistently stun villains is essential- without the extra splits it often doesn't stun. In GA stick with your team and stun sabers when they get into a position where you and your team can light them up. Even if they don't take much damage after the stun I find they often run away anyway and you can try again next time. Your GA advice is good, sticking with allies and having situation awareness is crucial and takes practice. Be careful with abilities, if all three are in cooldown you need to get somewhere safe. Always have a fallback position, and ideally always have the grenade or charge slam to buy time to escape. Chewie is a constant balancing act of not overusing abilities but not wasting them and being in a position to affect the game but not exposing yourself too much. Vehicles are a bigger threat than sabers, AVOID! Because of the difficulty, Chewie is the most rewarding but sometimes frustrating hero I've played
For HvV: hit duelist around the corner from a fight (so observant enemies are caught off guard).... Exploit his extra dodge.... perfect parry as necessary..... PROFIT.
Some of my favorite games ever are when everybody uses the OG cast on HvV and destroys. Especially all blasters. Han, Leia, Chewie, and Lando. Luke is invited to but it hits different when the whole team goes off with OG blasters.
Honestly, in the next Battlefront game, they should replace one of his abilities with an explosive bolt with just a nutty amount of concussive force, like we see him have in The Force Awakens. In the lore, Chewie's bowcaster uses physical bolts with an auto-cocking system, so it could be a one-shot ability that absolutely clobbers enemies and sends them flying 20 feet away, and staggers them for good measure. It'd probably deal minimal damage, though. Honestly I could see it replacing the shock grenade, seeing as that ability is pretty useless in GA/capital supremacy. Also, just flat-out upgrading the damage and/or rate of fire of his bowcaster would have him perform much better at long range, and he could still go toe-to-toe with villains in close range with his charge slam.
What I like to do a lot is to run at them with my charge slam, and while their on the ground I use my stun and then my main ability and just mow them down. This is mostly a lot better with a saber character alongside you tho
Comboing charge slam into shock grenade then a couple headshots from furious bowcaster will kill any villain in the game (except maybe Vader and Phasma) before they can even retaliate. Chewie's melee is also pretty crazy damage wise, so don't forget to use it.
Great video. Chewie can be a real burden to learn, kind of like Boba Fett imo. Do you ever find that Chewie’s slam ability glitches out? I find that sometimes I’ll be in the perfect situation to get a mega kill streak with slam attack on a choke point only for it to not go off and instead get absolutely shredded.
How should I think about using his alternate fire? Is it better all the time? Is the shotgun only good when they’re close and evading or does the explosion make up for it?
The trick to pwning everyone as Chewie: When you see an nearby enemy, activate furious bowcaster and proceed to blast away. If the enemy can close on you, use Charge slam JUST until you're behind them, then activate the slam. While your enemy is on the ground from Charge Slam, throw your shock grenade at their feet IMMEDIATELY. Blast away at facial area.
Don't forget Chewie's MELEE!! I was going to ask about it. I was thinking it would be stronger than others' and Chewie veterans in comments approve this! He can almost be as powerful as a saber user.
To me honestly chewie has such a big hit box but with all that health just take cover have good positioning and use combinations of your abilities and use them in good area points like choke holds or areas to capture. I find helping your teammates and taking care of them by absorbing shots for them and push forward with a squad following you and he has a strong melee you have to be semi aggressive and play the objective and chip away at heroes health... if you find yourself in a 1v1 with a hero im honestly not afraid just use your rolls smart and be unpredictable and use the stun or slam and try coming at them from the back hes has a deadly Melee from behind and also shot at vehicles his weapon is strong against them. He's his own thing but strong 💪those star cards are for both game modes are legit as well its what I run... All the heroes and villains in this game can be similar but have their own abilities and stats you have to work with their strength and weaknesses and you can be good with all of them if you have good game sense and aim then any character is a monster... but people get caught up or just suck and can't aim lol
I actually think you didn’t give chewie as much credit as he deserves in hvv. I think him and Han are on par with each other when it comes to taking down saber heroes, with 2 disable abilities, and 2/3 shooting modes going through the block
I agree with you chewie is impossible to play with. I used to be a chewie main. I played once with han and Leia and I haven't touched chewie ever since
Generally Chewie is a very weak hero but there are some situations where he can absolutely dominate, usually at command posts in tight spaces, so that's when I tend to use him. I use all 3 abilities together: stun, furious bowcaster then slam, in that order. Then I step back behind teammates in support until they are all recharged and repeat. In the right situation you can wipe out a tonne of enemies pretty quickly.
HVV choices aren't the best 9 percent extra damage and 20 percent damage reduction against blasters are pretty bad. Chewbacca main here and I use bonus health, 34 percent damage reduction card and his bowcaster 40 regain after every kill last card isn't really necessary but it's good if there's multiple people and Chewbacca needs as much bowcaster as possible
Im a bit late with this, but isnt his melee damage more than other blaster heros? I know boba has a like 200 or so melee on his third chained melee if the enemy is at a range at that point
“Most difficult heroes to play as” What are you talking about dude Chewie is the most noob friendly blaster hero I’ve seen Legit all he needs usually is charge slam, shock grenade, and furious bowcaster and he completely dominates everyone in his path What exactly is difficult about him aside from the fact he’s a pain in the ass to kill Even in large scale gamemodes where range is his weakness it matters little His furious bowcaster regenerating time after each kill makes him pretty much unkillable And the singular explosive bolt takes out shields easily He’s a major tank buster And absolutely melts players health in hero gamemodes with his stun and furious bowcaster combined making it nearly impossible to escape his shots
Not a very good guide imo. I use him a lot, and important points are missed. Especially on hero mod. The most versatile skill is the charge slam, not the bowcaster boost. Well used, this one makes you avoid the worst situations and is a perfect slaying ability. Perfect for defense, insane for attack. But you have to be a bit aggressive with it, which is what this guide is saying not to do. Also, he is one of the best hero to counter phasma and palpatine. Phasma being a pain for most heroes. He also does very well against Vader as his bowcaster cannot be countered and because Vader is slow. He is a bit more weak against fast sabers, that's mainly it. And he also doesn't like corridors too much.
The devs really did a horrible job balancing him. The nerf to the damage on his bowcaster was wayyyy too bad. Chewie is awful if you dont have his abilities. Takes 3 shots to kill normal troopers
