You really can't regulate deep fakes, these are mainly open source projects

@@user-njyzcip You can make the technology illegal, and make the use of it a violation of an individuals likeness and copyright. Alternatively you can regulate it so in order to be able to do deep fakes you'll need a license. So only special effects companies will be able to do it. In the future they will regulate technology the same way they regulate drugs and weapons.

@@ChuckBerrington So, you think Parker & Stone are pushing the use of DeepFakes in order for their legislative buddies to justify drawing a line? That’s interesting. I’m not familiar with their politics. Have they expressed public concerns over the technology? Perhaps, as creators they feel a necessary element of skill, or art, is removed in the process. They would then be motivated to protect the industry? It would also indicate that they’re smart. Identifying an issue, and, three steps ahead, applying the ground work for a solution. Again, I’m not familiar enough to gauge whether these guys fit that mould. Interesting idea though.

@@vidalott I think the use of “deep fakes” in satire can be very dangerous. Specially when you’re using the faces of government officials. I fully support it’s usage and think the technology should be legal under the first amendment, however when a group of people who recently got a 900 million dollar pay day experiment with the technology in weird low key RU-vid channel it makes you think, why? Either they’re experimenting with the tech for other content or they’re trying to test the waters socially before actually using it to the best of its potential. Notice who most characters are using the face but play other characters, this is avoid any accusation that they’re posing as government authorities or any claims of fraud. It’s very interesting, but there’s a method to the madness…

@@ChuckBerrington I assumed they were using the exact face with a different voice and a non sequitur context in order to avoid legal liability. Like you say, the low key element of it all has a sketchy feel. However, your idea of testing the waters before investing in a major project, sounds more reasonable than the BaseketBall guys playing 3D chess in politics and industry.
