This song will never get old.. because it's a real song with real singers and musicians.. not some carefully choreographed track in a studio where people use modulated voice overs to make them sound good!
When the horn section of this song kicks in, it always brings me to tears. Its so airy, and reminds me of a bumble bee in flight. This song is right up there with Dire Straits "Money For Nothing". Iconic. One lick and you know instantly youre hearing a masterpiece that defies time.
Nile Rodgers dreamt every single note of this bittersweet lament about an unrequited love. He claims that it’s the only song he’s ever dreamt note-for-note. Rodgers recalled : “I used to sleep with score paper next to the bed, and I wrote out the whole score paper […], and I wrote out the whole score the next day. We went in and played what I dreamt.” He added : “The only thing that appears on the record that I didn’t dream was when the horns come in, I put the strings up an octave. That was the idea of the concert master. He said, ‘Nile, since we’re going this long amount of time, why don’t the strings up an octave for the second part?’ We tried it in the studio and it sounded great.” Originally intended for Sister Sledge, “I Want Your Love” (1979) was eventually audiotaped as a follow-up to Chic’s hit single “Le Freak” (1978). In 2015, Lady Gaga released this with Nike Rodgers for a campaign for the designer Tom Ford. 💙🎶💜

Ha, i finally get this song, its a message FROM me, and TO me. He wrote it in a dream, hence "I want your love, I WANT your love". Not "I need your love" in second line like ALL other funk songs. NEED is fear and love is WANT, always forever, both lines.
I was dating my future wife when this song was hot. I was living surreal because I knew she would become my wife before I even asked her. It just seemed Chic was playing our life’s soundtrack and everything was falling into place. Her close friends embraced me but her so-called friends tried to sabotage her.
