Exactly! This song was the "Jam" back in the day. You know what' so eerie, so many of the Folks who were "Patrons" of Studio 54 are no longer with us. Yves St. Laurent, Halston, Michael Jackson, Steve Rubell (The Co-Owner), and that's just the tip of the Iceburg. They also sadly enough represented the First Generation to die of AIDS Related Illness. For Calvin Klein going there was a blessing because he met some very special Close Friends, Sandy Gallin, Barry Diller, and David Geffen who are some of the most powerful men in Show Business. David Geffen lent Calvin Klein 50 Million to save his Fashion Company, got him to use Mark Wahlberg who was then known as Marky Mark who was already wearing Calvin Klein Underwear at his early Promo Performances known as Showcases. Calvin is next to Ellen Degeneres a wizard at House Design and Flipping. In the UK Nile Rogers names is revered since alot of Boy Bands/Girl Group Icons do "Cover" Versions of various songs he worked on and he also worked with Duran Duran after Andy Taylor & Roger Taylor left. However in The US he's too "Old School" but his name is still respected and to this day Chic is not in The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

Not sure.... Surely when you're the central part of one of thee most famous bass solos in history... He's bound to have known he was respected....Anyway, when you're that good, you'll know yourself... If you look at the people in the video, it looks, to me anyway, they knew they were making history, the middle violin player is giving it some wellie... One of the singers gives the other one a knowing smile.. They knew.... First heard this song when I was 9 yrs old and the bass and the violins were unreal.... 53.. 2 weeks ago and listen to this on a regular basis... Its the definition of a classic and the bass player is key.. He Had to have known..
