Hi Diedre. Great video. I learned a lot. My tip for looking chic is good quality undergarments. You need a bra that fits well and has support. And underwear that doesn't bunch up or show through your pants.
Hey Deirdre! Great reminder of the classic and timeless pieces to choose! What I see on you is wearing your beautiful heels which is so chic! Though I have a few 2-3” heels when needed, I wear sandals and flats during the summer, booties and boots in the winter with heels about 1-2”. Pretty casual, huh? But, I wear the classic, structured pieces and it works out. Thank you, again! 💕
Hi Kathy. Great comments, thank you. I really love these heels. They are pretty classic as well as stylish and chic. Timeless and classic with an individual twist is the way to go. Xx
I have never been one for fashion or shopping, since finding you, I have taken a look at myself and brought a few things and learnt so much. Thank you ❤️
Fabulous video Deirdre-so chic! Love all the outfits-especially the accessories. You give me lots of inspiration for scarves, bags and shoes. Thank you!❤️
many thanks once again for the great tips Deidre which I hope will give my wardrobe a well needed re-vamp. I have ceased working due to ill health (not age) so all my classic suits and high heels are no longer required - alot of the clothing has therefore been sent to chairty shops etc - but I have held back a few jackets and intend to style these as advised above & to finish my look I intend to invest in some different casual (with a hint of classy chic) jewellary- Thank you
Hi Lorraine. Thanks so much for sharing this and I'm so sorry to hear about your ill health. I hope it is something that may improve or that you can live with relatively comfortably. I'm so pleased that my tips have inspired you. I think that smart jackets can be very successfully paired with more informal pieces, such as jeans or linen trousers (depending on the season) and can look incredibly chic. Take care. XX
I've always had compliments for how I present myself. I feel like your videos are refining my "classy look" and ramping it up a level. I need a change and I have become a real student of yours. This video was great. I may ditch all my costume jewelry and just wear my really good stuff from now on. This will make you laugh....in one video you said go light with your nail polish. I've had short red nails for the last 25 years. I went to the salon with the intention of going really pale because of what you said but I just couldn't do it!!! I tried! I came home with a dark pink/red....just wanted you to know, we really do take your information to heart. Take care of yourself.
Dear Deirdre I've just discovered you and subscribed immediately. Not just because the content is what I was looking for, but also because your positive energy cheered me up no end. Keep it up! Yesim
Hi there. Thank you so much for appreciating my videos and subscribing. I like to be myself and I'm always very enthusiastic about helping people, so I think this comes over. Have a great day. XX
Deidre, I love the house metaphor! 😁 You have said it before. Jackets and shoes make the outfit. I love what you said about knees. My grandmother used to say knees were ugly, and I thought it was funny and odd. But come to think of it, they might not be the most attractive part of the body. Agree with the chunky jewelry tip. It seems aging to me. Thanks for all you do. You work hard so we don't have to.😊
Thank you so much, Sonja. I love helping and if I can help even just a little, to assist ladies to look and feel fabulous, then I'm happy. Take care and have a great day. XX
Very informative video, Deirdre, I’m especially here for the tailoring side of things to make our outfits chic! So many good tips for those who wish to look chic. Thank you for sharing! Donna Walmsley, Work Your Wardrobe 🧚🏻♀️❤️🐝
Hi. I just found you, and I immediately subscribed. :-) Thank you for the style tips. Although I am already chic (my name is, hahaha), I enjoyed your vlog and your style. Cheers! :-)
Hi Deirdre, I enjoyed this video. As colours, I like black and navy, I find light colours of grey and camel difficult to wear as I’m quite large and my natural colouring is pale. Do you have any tips for knitwear colours for me? Also is gold or silver jewellery more chic or is there no differennce?
Hi Kim. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I think we are all drawn to black and navy as it can certainly be slimming. They are incredibly chic neutrals too and you can do so much with them, such as with scarves to lift the face. I think you have to wear what you are comfortable in and if you feel happy in those colours, then there is no reason to force yourself into any colours that you are not confident in wearing. I always think this is a truism for everyone. I know you said you have pale colouring but do you have dark hair or light hair, as that can make a difference to the complementary colours you choose to go with your black and navy, for example with knitwear? Regarding jewellery colour, it is personal preference but also skin tone. I used to wear a lot of silver but then, with age, I have morphed more into gold as my skin tone has a more yellow base which tends to go with it better. Currently, I actually mix silver and gold together which I love doing! So, again, you need to look at your colouring and the colours of the clothes you wear to see what suits you and what you like best. If in doubt, mix them!! I hope this helps. XX
Hi dierdre. In winter I wear above the knee skirts (I am 63) with flat boots and thick black tights as this seems to be the best proportion for my body. Anything longer makes me look very frumpy. Is this ok or am I deluding myself?
Hi Sonia. No, you’re definitely not deluding yourself! I love exactly this look myself in the winter too. I think that, as long as NAKED knees are covered, and that could be in black opaque tights as you mention, then it looks chic. Take care. Xx
@@50FabulouswithMyFriendDeirdre Hi Dierdre. Thanks for the prompt reassurance even though you are on holiday! I can now get dressed with confidence. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Great ideas :) I notice too that women in these videos always have their hair and make-up done which goes a long way to a chic look. And your smile adds the final accessory.
Hi Louise. I agree that having makeup and hair done certainly adds to the groomed "look". Thanks for the lovely comment on my smile!! Thanks also for watching and commenting. XX
Thank you Jillian. I'm out in Greece at the moment, so I'm eating loads of great food! I don't stint myself! I will add your idea to my list, thank you . XX
Good morning beautiful ❤️always love my scarf 🧣 so classy. Love jewelry plenty of black pants. But my favorite is white in everything also plenty in black. Numerous white shirts. Wish I could wear my spike heels 👠 but bad back and legs 😢still hold on to them. Navy and tan classy. Working on my diet nasty word. Always beautiful 🤩 enjoy your day ❤️
...Being a recent Subscriber, I was watching some of your Videos from last year, this one in particular has great Basic pieces, and I have to agree with " the focus " factor, because it really is something that is often overlooked, but is a powerful way to add that " special something " ,...it can also make you " unforgettable " in a GOOD way. I love that white shirt you are wearing ,it's a beautiful cut, great detail, and I love love love that it is longer ,I like my shirts longer . I have 9 to 12 white shirts/ blouses , all of them are different. ( When I got married some years ago my then - to- be - husband was helping with the move, we were moving all my things and he looked at me and he said, "How many. White button down shirts does one woman need..?" and I said : As many as is there .... they're all for different things " l o l... he also asked that about the Black Heels.... 🙂😁... sooooo. After that, he just didn't ask anymore, 😄🙂😁! ) I really appreciate how you present many of the items that you speak of and the links provided. ...( It is a pet peeve of mine that a lot of content creators don't even mention where to get something or something similar if that is no longer available) . Cheers and Blessings from Across the Pond... ~ 🙏🏻✨️💞☕️
Hi Rose, I have just included the details of the jeans I am wearing in this video in the video description below. So sorry to have not noticed that I had left them out. They are: LEVI JEANS (HIGH-RISE/STRAIGHT - LOTS OF COLOURS) - UK: fxo.co/CgoN US: fxo.co/Ch25 OR: shopstyle.it/l/bxypd Many thanks. XX
It’s a very good question, Linda. I used to live and work in the Middle East and it’s a daily problem- how to stay cool but still look chic. I am planning some videos in the next month or so on this topic. I hope you will like them. Xx
Hi Lynn. I think that trends have moved away from matching shoes and bag now to a more flexible approach. My view is that as long as the shoes and bag don't clash and broadly co-ordinate, then anything goes! XX
Don’t forget to wear hair in a becoming style… usually a little shorter as we age & not a brassy color or wild hair like blue or purple! A stylist said probably 80 to 90 % of women need a different hairstyle!
Hi Jayne. A great idea! I sometimes struggle with jackets that open too much at the front due to my shape, so I do empathise with this issue. I will add it to my list! Thanks so much. XX
Too bad about the chunky colorful jewelry. I bought a brightly colored necklace with chunky beads on a day I needed cheering up. It is beautiful but I've never worn it because it seems over the top.
I agree. I have great legs too and get a lot of compliments. I like just above the knee skirts/dresses as it is a perfect length for me at 5ft 2in. And, in the summer I like wearing shorts and skorts too.
