Here we are 27 year later and it is still an absolute joy to watch Michael Jordan play basketball. The greatest Athlete/basketball and most complete player I've ever seen!
@Keyboard Legend Bro he literally will that team past the playoffs and that whole bulls team was lit he was not alone you can literally compare the 2 the way their will drive their teams to win facts cause whit out the players Jordan had he would had never won the all play they position to perfection
I’m in Philly. The late 80’s-90’s Bulls are the only non-Philly team that I would watch even if one of my Philly teams were playing. MJ had no peers. Dude was one of a kind. Simply the best.
I also was in Chicago for all 6, I also remember going to Chicago Stadium as a kid when the stands were almost empty, and then came the GOAT! Luckily I had season tickets the entire MJ era, best era ever in basketball 🏀
@@kevinwheesysouthward9295 i lived in Kensington in the 90's and i was the same way. i rooted for the Bulls even though i'm a 6er fan. those 6 years i watched as many games as i could and watched all the playoff games Jordan was the best, sorry LeSwept but he's better than you too
I wasn't in Chicago...but my cable provider had WGN. And seeing 4 Tarheels on the court in this game, three of whom were on the team that gave Dean his first NCAA Chip my Senior year at Chapel Hill, always makes me smile. Todays NBA game is sissified,
This is why the Bulls were a dynasty in the 90’s. They stuck together and grew as a team. Growing up in Chicago watching the pain the teams went through and what the fans went through as well only made the first championship that much better. I was 17 years old in ‘91 and I’ll never forget that year. Young kids who never watched MJ play in those early years have no idea what they’re talking about when they say MJ had a stacked team back in the day and that’s why he was great. Please. Having to go through teams like Boston, Milwaukee and Detroit each year were some of the toughest the Bulls had to go through. It was ALMOST like winning a championship when they finally swept the Bad Boys, who had given the Bulls the most problems...especially MJ who would literally get beat up whenever they played against them. It felt so good to finally get passed those guys. The rest is history. I’ll always love those guys because they helped put Chicago on the map after years and years of losing seasons. MJ was and always will be the GOAT.
bri rui That what sports is about, going through the grind and getting over the hump. Those Bulls teams never talked about splitting apart, it was always about growing together as a team.
That's why I respect Michael Jordan instead of taking the easy road he stayed in Chicago and finally beat the Pistons and won the championship MJ is and always will be the 🐐
Real T.V. also respect the front office also for being competent enough to build a team around him. imagine if Dan Gilbert or James Dolan was running thing lol
actually I think these guys play for glory, admiration and respect from the fans. also there was no reason for you to be an ass. this guy was stating his opinion. also i'm a Lebron fan who thinks he's probably the 2nd greatest player ever after MJ. the point is I had no problems with him going to the heat. I didn't like what KD did though. oh and you don't have to try & speak for KD like you tried to for MJ. what those guys might think truly isn't the point which you seem to fail to understand. oh and don't try to speak for me also since you added anyone else when you made your rude comment.
rxtsec1 I like now much more than b4 that KD went to GSW. And by me stating that you wouldn't even understand why and no.. I am not a fan of KD, I am a fan of the game and when you can't keep your players because you cannot pay them.. but yet you can move around as freely as you want these days.. then how can you not like what KD decided for himself, his career and his bball acumen vs what Lebron did to just win a chip his way. Which is why he didn't win his first year there.. he was so mentally fragile when he can't control things. KD I am beginning to realize he doesn't want to be the main guy although his talent and skill level will place him as that guy. If you dont have a coach to offset the meat headed egos on the team, and implement a high IQ team offense & defense as you see today with GSW, Boston, Spurs, previously Dallas, and up and coming Utah.. then lebron can beat any of those teams and others and KD could play with any of those teams and NOT change their team flow and spirit. And believe this or not.. because this is why I love the move more.. '17 GSW is just a higher acumen and Bball IQ than '13 OKC.
Day Walker smart teams without talent don't win championships and golden state has 2 of the greatest to ever play game as well as 2 players comparable to Pippen
@@jakerojas4942 numbers don't make you better.. Chips Do!.. Personally i have not seen Lebron do anything special in his career. I do respect Lebron for being an Pro. But totally, Lebron lost more Clutch Games than Any Pro in Pro Basketball.. Idk how he's Comparable... Ijs..
1984: Year before MJ: Bulls were a baby. Couldn't do much. 1985-1987: Early MJ years: Bulls were an elementary school child. The knew and could do some things but were still clearly in the early stages. 1988: Bulls were a middle school child. They knew and could do more than ever before but clearly still had a way to go. 1989: Bulls were a high schooler. By this time they knew and could a lot but stilt had some growing pains to go through. 1990: Bulls were a college student: They were almost there, but still had to mature a bit before they could be an adult. 1991: Bulls are an adult. Have reached maturity.
I would argue that and say their 92 team was better than their 91, 97, and 98...BUT that 96 team...mannn... I'm with you...just to witness all of the 1990s Bulls teams was a treat. I still remember like it was yesterday. Sigh...the good Ole days
I will NEVER forget Jordan's baseline dunk on the Knicks at 15:58 min. He splits the double team in an INCREDIBLE move of deception, THEN dunks on Patrick Ewing. The fake was so subtle and then explosive that Starks and Oakley are still moving in the OPPOSITE direction of MJ as he goes back baseline toward the basket before dunking on the Knicks biggest player. It's THE greatest move I ever saw.
back when superstars grow and develop and eventually win a title (s) with the team that originally drafted them and don't take the easy way out and join other established stars in other teams.
Yea i love wen u stay on ur team that drafted u till u retire instead of im never gonna win attitude alone and grind till ur pieces fit then go out like a legend of ur city
@whole27 i might be wrong but im pretty sure i remembered hearing barkley even saying i would have never joined jordan, pippen and the bulls just because of his competitive nature and he wanted to beat them. Obviously didnt work put for him, and later in his career he did team up with hakeem, and drexler in houston, but all three were more or less at the end of their careers. Its more just a different mindset now compared to the 80s and 90s
Man this is the pure reason why Micheal Jordan is THE GREATEST of all time in my personal opinion. Michael never lost hope when it came to the pistons he never fold or gave up period he kept coming stronger and better year after year not only just MJ his teammates as well they grew together as team became better all because the leadership of Michael Jordan he is a real pure leader, it kills me how people compare Lebron James to MJ because in reality my personal opinion Lebron wouldn’t last a second in the NBA in the 90s straight up as much as he complains to the refs now he would’ve been a bigger baby back in the 90s he most definitely wouldn’t last playing against the Pistons in the 80s & early 90s he most definitely wouldn’t last playing against the Knicks in the 90s as well that’s my honest opinion. Michael Jordan was tuff mentally and physically had leadership mentality I God to honesty would take 90s basketball over today’s game this is coming from a 21 year old.
By the springtime of that year, it was crystal clear that Bulls had another gear and at least in the East their moment had arrived. There was Portland in the West, and when they didn't get through the Lakers, we knew it was Michael's year
@@opiousrobinson1997 Another hater so the NBA wasrigged for jordan , he won 6 titles and played 15 years what happened to the other 9 years he didn't win was it rigged for the pistons, celtics and lakers to?
mganoobkaYoxxx i dont think MJ did cry to stern, he never surrender and his will to win and his teammates are the reason why they swept the pistons he never complained the pistons’ dirty play called jordan rule
These days were beautiful days when there was a promise and hope for a great future and great teams like the bulls never disappointed in the 90's. Greatest team ever.
And they would be back for 5 more long struggles! Childhood memories right here. Our generation was so spoiled! you can keep Lebron I will take MJ any day.
Yall really need to let lebron nuts breath....everybody knows mj the best and had help....but to dog Bron yall need to appreciate basketball instead tearing down another man...
vivaladanisawsomes Bo the man said they looked old nobody is taking anything from Jordan Geez. Jordan fans are so happy he couldn't beat the pistons or the Celtics until they were older players it was just their time to shine. So many Jordan fans we're so scared when LBJ was younger cause he led an average team to the finals at a young age. Lost to the great Spurs. Give him Horace Pippen Paxon Kerr Rodman 3 seven footers Bj Hodges come on the Bulls we're loaded. Know the game agoMD.
the bulls weren't loaded. cartwright was not a great center, very slow and no vision. hodges was a great three point shooter, but they needed him to replace Paxton. Pippen was a great #2 because of his size and could run the court with Jordan. Horace Grant wasn't great but became a great rebounder, eventually replaced by Rodman. Each player had to up their game to compliment Jordan...
Still watching this regularly....I was barely 15 years at that time, getting up far after midnight in Belgium to watch the games live. Those were the days! As much as I still love the NBA today, the 90's were the absolute golden era of NBA basketball. Players remained mostly loyal to their team, trying to win a championship no matter the odds.
@@juliuspagunsan2270 Love how the coaches respected & acknowledged each players strength & let each one showcase his talent while they worked on teaching them to work together as one unit with one goal... to win championships!! Beautiful!
Jordan was obsessed with winning, LeBron is obsessed with being viewed as the greatest. There's several players i would compare Jordan to before LeBron.
LBJ is in the category of Wilt, 2 of the most athletically and physically gifted players of all time, but neither one is in the top three in terms of skill and competitive drive.
This took me back to when I was a boy ,when watching these games to me were magic ,just me and the bulls the roller coaster of emotions one game would put me thru that to this day could not be duplicated ,and this video took me back to that young kid that believed he could fly thank u 90s Bulls this was like seeing a childhood friend
Yes sir the rollercoaster series in the playoffs growing up. Man almost had a heart attack as a lil boy jumping up and down screaming in my basement with my fam
I used to think he would come fly to me and play ball with me. Hsd a dream he came and visited me and took me back home with him he was my new father lol
I was 9 yrs old living on the west side of Chicago (Ashland and roosevelt)......I remember my neighbor streets filled with people out all nite long celebrating.....brought back soooo many memories
I was 6 when they won I remember my granny screamin I wanna be like mike. Those were the years growing up knowing yall were gonna win. Great time growing up!!! In chicago!!!!
This video shows what the NBA use to be like. Franchise players didn’t jump from team to team year after year. They stuck around until the owners filled the holes that they were lacking. The NBA isn’t like that anymore. Aside from it being softer, now franchise players join one team and that’s how they win ‘ships. I grew up in Chicago during the greatest era in basketball. I went through the heartbreak with the Bulls. MJ was and still is the greatest of all time. To be able to watch him day in and day out was like a dream. He encouraged you to play defense out on the court on top of trying to mimic his many offensive moves. When they started to beat the Bad Boys in that ‘91 series was almost like witnessing a championship on its own. Couldn’t stand Detroit Pistons and it was so aggravating to see those guys kick the Bulls asses every time. It was a great feeling to get passed those guys by sweeping them.
"Michael and Pippen fly around like sleek dobermans" this line made me fall in love with playing defense. Now I will have to watch the other 5 championship videos MJ=
Brother Dee... Great Point. I'm a Pistons fan and truly respect Michael (The GOAT) and the Bulls kept at it and finally won as a team. Todays players leave, setup super teams. Its interesting to watch as a sports fan, but its not the same. The Pistons had years of disappointment, but kept at it and beat Bird's Celtics, Magic's Lakers, and yes, the Bulls on more than occasion. Great times in the NBA back then.
mmafan2223 Yes they were, videos like this remind me how great of a player Scottie was. I don’t know who I’m the current NBA reminds me of Scottie. His athleticism , speed and length in the open court was amazing.
Been on a nostalgia kick. Northern Illinois boy in the 90's. These videos take me back. Got to witness greatness live. Still incredibly enjoyable all of these years later. Great video!
It is something cannot be published in words the bulls are legends in themselves lots of love to MJ. PIPPIN GRANT ARMSTRONG AND NEVERTHELESS PHILL JAKSON
This Lakers team only lost 3 games the entire playoffs coming into this series too. They swept the Rockets in the first series. Then beat Golden state 4-1 and Portland 4-2 in the western finals. Beating them 4-1 shows just how good this Bulls squad really was.
And Magic was coming off an MVP year the season prior. I just hate how new age fans love to slander MJ's accomplishments by saying he only won because Magic was already "washed up". How do you become washed up after winning an MVP the season before?
jizzhunt Exactly , we all who witness the bulls in 90s , knew that they faced tough competition in the playoffs . These new age fans were born after the year 2000
@@jizzhunt Agreed. No way was Magic washed up in 91. He averaged 19 points, 13 assists and 7 rebounds. Not to mention 90% from the free throw line. He was inarguably still at the top of his game when he was forced to retire. In fact 91 was actually one of his best years from a personal stat perspective. This Bulls team was just THAT good.
@@hlf_coder6272 I had completely forgotten that Magic Johnson had just won an MVP the year before. Yeah, I can't think of a single player in any sport who took that huge of a hit in his playing ability the year after he won an MVP... Hmm... I'm sure he's out there. Anyone know?
I wish Jordan in his playing days can come back and play today. All these Lebron lovers (Nick Wright Shannon Sharpe) talk trash about MJ cause they know there r no consequences for what they say. They know Jordan ain’t playing anymore. If he was playing today they would have no choice but say Jordan is the GOAT cause he was too good. Jordan would whoop Lebron and everyone knows it. MJ GOAT
This seems like a distant memory. I was in tears watching this legendary video. With Paxson & Forman in the Front Office now it’s so hard for me to stay a Chicago Bulls Fan.
Had what advantage Worthy was hurt. Kareem been retired this was one of the weakest Laker teams that Magic ever been on. Pippen had a great season, 1991 was probably Jordan best year ever. Not stat wise.
@@melvynsngltn27 you said that the lakers was weak on that year then why they enter the 1991 finals? In the first place, you can't be.called a weak team if you reach the nba finals.. dummy!
Great video! Thank you for posting!!! I am and always will be a lifelong Lakers fan, but you can’t help but have the utmost respect, and admiration for these Bulls!! So much fun to watch!
Back when the NBA wasn't the WWE. I miss this time in my life but I am so happy to find video archive here on RU-vid. Thanks for the upload. This really brought back memories from my childhood.
I am a woman but i really love basketball especially Chicago Bulls me and my husband love chicago bulls an a fan of Michael Jordan love the NBA 90s. A solid fan of chicago fr. Philippines
I jumped on the bulls bandwagon when Horace and Scottie came to Chicago and Michael started accepting team basketball with much better players this team was special and I was 20 at the time it was all uphill then.
MJ was 6-0 in NBA finals... After the '93 championship....his dad was murdered...MJ grieved..left basketball for 2 yrs to play basketball..."IF"...and it's a big "If"...although very probable....MJ would have continued to play basketball...MJ could have possibly been 8 - 0......
I was 13 years old in 1991, and a Chicago fan in ALL sports. My Mom bought us a 48 inch screen TV in May specifically so I could enjoy watching the Bulls in the playoffs. Little did she know what would transpire over the next 8 years😯👍😉
1991= learnig how to fly 1992= the untouchabulls 1993= the unbeatbulls 1996= the unstopbulls(greatest team in nba history) 1997= the undeniabulls 1998= the unforgetabulls
I remembered the Pistons looking old and beat up that year. I knew this time as much of a Bad Boy Pistons fan that I am that we would be no match for Jordan and company this time around we had a good run. But they were the better team and it was Jordans time. I appreciate my Pistons team that beat Jordan and made him into the winner that he is today .
Joshua Ohale Then when the Pistons stupidly traded Vinnie Johnson in 1992 that was the end for the Pistons until they rose again with Chauncey, Rip and that whole group.
Old? They were in their late 20s. Dumars was like 26-27? That isn't old. Bulls just got them beat. Period. They were ready mentally physically and wanted it more badly.
Greg Hubbard overatted but beat the bulls 3 times you know how dumb you sound. We had their number for years but you can't stop a all time great player forever he figured out and swept us.
+Joshua Ohale | How can a team that won the championship the year prior, suddenly become "old and beat up"? The Pistons didn't want to give the Bulls their much deserved credit for winning, so they copped out and cited that they were past their prime. The flagrant foul rule was enacted in the 90-91 season, and the Pistons who relied so heavily on fouls weren't nearly as effective as a result, which only demonstrates how overrated they were as a team.
Wisemen Wisemen yes he was. Many people either don’t remember that, or aren’t old enough to remember that one season he played with the bulls. He was even a catalyst in one of those finals games against the lakers. Phil sat down the starting lineup after being down a significant margin, and Cliff helped lead the comeback with his energy and veteran leadership.
@@DC5Boss I thought that was the case. He was with them the next year and was very instrumental in helping Chicago win their second championship. I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I don't think we can underestimate just how important bench players like Levingston, Hodges, Hanson, Williams, Perdue, etc were to the success of the early Bulls' run.
