This is like Gold! I can listen to this & remember being 10 years old playing baseball w/my younger brother from the moment we woke up only to take breaks in the early afternoon for the Cubs games; Only to go back out & play 'til it was dark back in '83 & '84 in Stone Park & Melrose Park, Il. That was when we first fell in love w/baseball ( & Sports). Watching & listening to these games during that time was like religion to us. My Brother's gone now, but listening to this reminds me of things only he & I would laugh & talk about way back when. Thx & God Bless
+Walter Del Sol Great post Walter! God Bless!!! I was doing the exact same thing with my 8 year old twin brother at this time. Dad moved us out to Naperville (before it was "Naperville) from Hillside/Westchester area (near Melrose) That is ALL we did is play baseball....all day, all night...only came in to catch the Cubs on WGN.....played "running bases" in the street lights at night. Played "strike out" in the living room with a rolled up sock and a little wooden bat in the winter and at night (before video games). Where has the time gone my friend? Maybe in Heaven we will get those days back..huh? Baseball and Dads were basically the same word. 84 Cubs the last season my Dad got to watch with us....bitter sweet to say the least. Love you Dad...RIP...See you someday=)
+mep41376 We did the exact same thing w/the sox rolled up when we mover to Miami Beach the year after......... Wow.......... Timeless & priceless memories. Amazing how much we have in common down to meticulous detail. Thx for the reply & God Bless! Go Cubs Go!
+Walter Del Sol P.S. It was so contagious around the house that our sisters also joined in on the fun! They became huge Cubs Fans & even played as well w/ us down to the rolled up sox! The old days when we were kids.......:)
Harry Caray's excitement blows away Len Kasper any day. Kasper is SO boring with his monotone HR call with no enthusiasm... "It will go." That is so lame. What a crappy HR call. Glad Kasper is with the White Sox now. He sucks! Good riddance!
