Their most underrated song

Another arrow in the quiver of Chicago. Their diversity is SO underrated. Check out Byblos from this album. It’s Terry’s acoustic coffee house tribute to a woman he wanted but lost.

A lot of music fans don't know this, but this wonderful song was a #1 hit in South America.

It was also very popular when I visited Guam and the Philippines back in the 70s. Sometimes I feel this song was more popular overseas than in the US.

@@billr3724 Yes... Interesting. This song was released as a single in many parts of the world, but not in the USA.

No wonder with Laudir de Oliveira on percussion and that Latin vibe.

I just realized, from my vague memories of the liner notes when I had the physical 33 rpm version, that is the producer James William Guercio on bass and Pete on guitar. Not quite a fact but sort of factual, pending other findings.

JWG was a good bass player. I think he plays on Song of the Evergreens

"Byblos" on this album is my favorite. Terry Kath sings about a woman he loved but lost, and I think the same about my high school sweetheart when I hear it.

My all-time favorite CHICAGO song written and sung by Peter Cetera!

This was unique with the Latin rhythm and sound (percussion). James Guercio played guitar on this song. Peter's voice is amazing. Ironically, it has not been played much in recent times.

What a great choice on Chicago's 55th anniversary. Chicago VII is a great album. Must do more songs from this album. One of their best from one of the greatest bands of our time.

Great song by Peter Cetera. The Rhino CD chopped off the studio banter at the beginning but it's on the old Columbia CD, and the vinyl. If you get on the bad side of your wife or girlfriend, play her this song. Love the brief scat vocal at the end too!

One of Peter's best...with a beautiful vocal, and Terry Kath laying down the groovy bassline.

Effortlessly cool out of the gate. I'm a 1) Terry 2) Robert Chicagoan, but this doesn't lose or bug me in the least, lol. No doubt PC can retire on that sentiment alone. OOookay, gotta git, I'm killing myself, sides aching, throat sore, eyes swimming in sand. ;>D Wallet Chicago, that's good.

Funny how a relatively high percentage of Pete-written songs don’t have horns. 🎺

Chicago III had them all over his songs but starting with VI both he and Terry decided they weren't always required. I'm sure that lead to a growing division between horns and the rhythm section
