People who knew her, plus her biographers, say that she didn't squander her money: she was ripped off by her business managers. One of her managers was later convicted of embezzlement from his other clients.

It is not everyone that you can just watch perform, she was great. No fancy stage show, just her on the stage singing. Not many people can do that.....

After being sacked from MGM at 28 she lasted another 19 years Her concert career was a phenomena but it was unsusustainable and she knew These TV appearances were few and far between Most of her time at the collapse of the TV show she was homeless and left one million dollars of debt after her death from unpaid taxes and hotel bills

Yes the problem is its still a Man's world and if you take a GOOD look at her life the men in it took what they could and left her.Addiction her's especially was a disease. You don't leave someone you love high and dry when they are sick.R.I.P Judy.Love Barbara...

Read any biography and you'll see the trajectory of her last years after the TV show declined rapidly - she lived hand to mouth after that That's the reason she put everything into the CBS show and all the biographies agree it was her last chance to live a decent life - which after a life of hard work she certainly deserved if you think she had a chance to go on to become a successful star again - seems very unlikely - but you're entitled to your opinion

Unlike Sammy Davis, Julie Andrews, Sinatra and many others the options open to her were practically nil as to tour in concert endlessly wasn't an option and after A Star Is Born bombed commercially she wasn't getting movie offers - also because she had a reputation for being temperamental I agree it wasn't the **only** thing that killed her but I think she would have lived longer and if the TV show had made her rich and a successful TV star but thats just my opinion

Well it's not a question of being right or wrong because it's a matter of opinion - and I agree her addictions were the MAIN rea son she died But I personally think that the failure of her TV show was the death blow to her career and - as she believed she WAS her career it played a massive part in her dying as early as she did and in such sad penniless circumstances Judy knew her big sell out concert stadium days were numbered after that - and she needed money

She only had concerts left to make a living and her voice was already very tired at 43 she didnt make a penny from the entire TV series and her only reason for doing it was that it could have made her millions if it had worked She lasted another six years broke and deteriorating after the collapse of the show Her personal life was in disarray but if the show had made her wealthy and able to afford to enjoy life for sure she would have lived longer even with all her problems

they taped the dress rehearsals of the show as well as the actual recording so that they could be sure that at least something was broadcast It was chaos from day one despite Garland being her usual brilliant self In my opinion the failure of this show is what finally killed her - she just gave up hope

Obviously she didnt die the day after the TV show finished but her chance for a comfortable life did The concerts days were numbered and never enough money to make a living

well Sid luft saved her life almost 50 times and kept her going. but have you ever lived with an addict? I have, and if they arent family you cant help them if they dont want help, Sid Tried for almost 20 years to keep her on track. But she divorced him, he stuck by her worried for he loved her to the end. David Rose tried but MGM broke that up. What do you do when your lover says if you dont to this ill kill myself? and how many weeks years of that can you take?

Most walked away to save themselves, of course, Matt, and hating themselves for doing because they knew what would come for Garland. This is a familiar pattern in the addict's tempest. If it will post, this link reveals a tragic and sad reality which played out behind the scenes during this time in Garland's life. www.crazydaysandnights.net/2018/01/blind-items-revealed-20.html
