Chicago native DeAngelo Fletcher, the 2024 valedictorian at Morehouse College in Atlanta, called for a cease-fire in the war in Gaza during Sunday's graduation ceremony with President Biden sitting just feet away.

I don't understand how so-called black people are always talking about peace for everyone but their own people. There's never been anyone to ride with so-called black people. However, the establishment always finds a few so-called peaceful blacks to talk about a ceasefire in Palestine. While at the same time there are Palestinians claiming to be the Chosen people of the bible just as those that occupy their lands. How about condemn the actions on October 7, ask for a release of hostages on both sides, ask for a cease fire which will save lives/prevent disability on both sides and ask for a negotiated permanent solution for peace? If the US is going to be involved why can’t it be in a solution oriented healing process that brings both sides together? Maybe that’s naive of me but why isn’t it a goal?

You got a single thing right in all that, and it's you being naive. Israel _recently rejected_ a temporary ceasefire and hostage release offer _that the USA mediated,_ and Hamas _accepted,_ that _ISRAEL_ came up with. That alone should be telling you why you're being nonsensical when you think the problem here is Hamas when it isn't. Nevermind the fact that the USA has gone out of its way to prevent more substantial ceasefire attempts or superior UN protections for Palestine to be afforded to them.
