The Chicago River has been dyed green for St Patrick’s Day as celebrations continue throughout the city.
Thousands of spectators came to watch the river turn a vibrant shade of emerald.
This was the 69th time the river turned green since 1962.
Chicago plumbers dye the quarter of a mile-long river with environmentally friendly colours.
They assured the public that the tradition did not harm wildlife.
