Chicago skyline will not get bigger due to lack of crazy high property taxes and not enough private investors want to invest in Chicago due to corruption and crime. It’s sad because Chicago is so spread out and has the opportunity to be the size of upper and lower manhattan’s skyline but the city is bankrupt

Chicago even losing people have to many people. Rent is cheap compared to other cities so it’s still alive. Alsooooooo, there are still like 40 high rises going up. After covid. Of course Austin and Miami are hotter but for Midwest this is good.

Dude clearly you have either not lived in Chicago for a whole or you are not being updated on your facts and statistics because every year Chicago keeps building new buildings and highrises and also tall skyscrapers and as of this moment by 2030 there will be 8 new skyscrapers built in the city... read your architecture articles like curbed Chicago... use your facts and statistics before you blurt out anything... your feelings are not facts and statistics

Rent has increased here by the third largest amount nationally. There is a ton of demand for new apartments but the city needs to focus on a nodes/TOD approach to revitalizing parts of the city and encouraging CTA usage. Right now most new apartments are being built in the West Loop where it's super expensive.
