Chicagoland Railfanning 

Watch in HD! This video is more of a roadtrip than anything else, documenting the last days of "freedom" I had before heading to college in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I currently reside. As such, and seeing as though I have absolutely no opportunities to railfan in this area currently, the majority of my videos will be footage shot in California (Concurrently, of course) by my father.
Three days before I was scheduled to move into my dorm room, my father and I flew into Chicago Midway International airport from Ontario with one stated goal: try and capture as much Easter Railroading as we could before my time was up. Our first stop was the extremely busy BNSF "Racetrack" through the Western Suburbs, featuring train races, plenty of F40PH's, and especially the unique F40PH-3C Winnebago's that populate this section of Metra's lines. The next three days, we headed out to Norfolk Southern's former Conrail (nee PC, NYC, and LS&MS) Chicago Line, a literal conveyor belt of traffic moving between Chicago and Elkhart, Indiana, from where heads to the Eastern Seaboard. Featured in this section are standard cab leaders (include SD40-2's) former Conrail SD60M's and C40-8W's, plenty of NS DASH 9's, former UP SD90/43AC's, CP "haulage" run-through trains, CN power (including a cowl), the first two CN ET44AC's in existence paired up on a westbound manifest, train meets, races, and much, much more!
