unfortunately they didnt keep the historic records some western civilizations did. the aztecs particularly only existed about 100 years before europeans arrived so they never even developed a complete writing system.
@@HugoSanchez-eb2pz i only mentioned the aztecs as not having a system. im sure the mayans did but their record keeping does not compare to europes at the time
Winning team was actually sacrificed, they would have to drink a mix of phsycadelics that would get them super high and they had to have their back broken and chest cut open but since they were really high they wouldn’t feel anything
Actually that was the children sacrifices. The captain of the team was beaded. There’s carvings on the sides that showed someone holding a beheaded person in the ball court.
Snake worship in many nations I believe represents Lucifer. Appeared in the garden of Eden as a servant. So many nations has appeared in China as a dragon. This entity has caused untold wars and suffering. Today is no different Masons and fake Jews are following Luicfer. No peace in our world.
i just went there last week! such a beautiful place with so much history. pictures and videos don't even do it justice. when you see the temple with ur own eyes, it's magnificent.
The winers would get sacrifice not the losing. the team that wins want to get sacrificed socthey can challenged the Gods of chibalba but they must go through 9 stages of the underworld to reach chibalba God.
Absolutely loved this place! I went on a spiritual journey / Solo Trip to Yucatán and Chichen Iza was the best spiritual awakening I ever experienced! Such a magical place, I was blessed to have the best tour guide as well. One thing they said about the ball game was that they’re were captains of each team with a club on that platform just under the hoop, the winner was actually sacrificed but was volunteer for it as it was one of the highest honors and straight path to heaven. The acoustics there were something that can only be heard in person absolutely amazing! I highly recommend anyone of Mayan decent go back to the homeland and learn and experience it. I actually decide to quit ny job and am moving to Playa del Carmen in two weeks. I’d really like to be a tour guide for a side gig.
I’m currently in playa del carmen now on Holliday. Nothing like you read online. I was reading about lots of cartel issues but have felt as safe here as at home.
If felt different standing in the middle of the ruins. My body just felt better the longer I was there. Maybe I was just excited to finally see it too lol.
i just recently found out I have mayan decent & im so excited to go here. in my ancestry report it states most of my native blood is from this area. im currently on my spiritual journey & i’ve been asking my ancestors to give me signs & communicate with me as i’m now reconnecting with them. i truly believe your comment was a sign :) thank you. i’m so excited to experience the energy & connections i’ll have here.
@@alinakirkland beautiful ❤️ it absolutely is calling to you!!! I highly recommend taking at least two week out there… make sure to go with a clear mind and leave all negativity behind! Let go and live in the moment! You’ll feel the magic, you’ll feel the connection that we are all from the same, in the entire universe! You’ll feel it and it will be overwhelming love and joy 😁😁 I can’t wait for you to experience it. Happy Travels friend ❤️❤️🙏
The losing team was sacrificed, but it was considered one of highest honors and they would rebirthed as someone else anyways. The sacrificed team members family’s then became nobles as well.
I'm going to bust the myth of winning or losing players being sacrificed. While playing pok ta pok aka tlachtli, neither were sacrificed during the game, except if the game was being played strategically, instead of going to war against a city. In this instance, teams from both cities would play each other and the leader of the losing team may be killed, although often they were allowed to live as long as the losing city would supply the winners with a quantity of jade, obsidian or other special goods. Much like today, killing your prize athletes/warriors was counterproductive, especially since the game was used for strategy. The other exception was if prisoners of war (warriors) were captured, they would be allowed to play the game to decide their fate.
You are correct sir…good eye….!!!! I have extensive knowledge on both!!! My wife & dad are from Campeche…(Kampeche) mayan world…so im trained in the culture
@Rhizosphere i have stone carvings of both…the Aztec & Mayan Calendar…they are very different bit similar…. i will say the Aztecs borrow much from the Mayans just as the Romans did from the Greeks
i’ve read that we actually don’t even know what got sacrificed, why, how much, or when. Just that some sort of sacrifice happened correlating to this game. Maybe human sacrifices only happened when people cheated or showed aggression? Or maybe only when played during celebrations or holidays?
@@HaCubbee yeah they really don’t know why for a fact they can only assume due to the engravings on the wall but there’s is no way of determining wether or not it was the winner or lose who got sacrificed. My tour guide said this btw and it makes sense
@@charlescorea3144 yeah I think it might be how like in Chinese restaurants they might have Japanese dishes and some other Asian cultural iconography but it is kinda irritating when it's described as Mayan every time 2012 is mentioned.
I was just there, recently. It’s a site to see if you haven’t had the chance to visit! Please do so. Unfortunately, they stop letting people go up the kulkukkan pyramid! I believe someone fell and died in 2005.
Yes i just went in may 2021 & you could no longer ascend the temple……sad but visited many temples here in maya country & enjoyed the view of many….especially MT. EDZNA in Campeche!!! If you havnt visited please do So ….its a real treat!!!
I went up many times when I was in middle school and each year we had a field trip to Chichén Itzá, of course back in the 90’s, but even as a little girl to me it was extremely impressive and unbelievable amazing!!
The maya civilization was in decline when the Spanish arrived. The Soanish defeated the Inca and the Aztecs. The Spanish had a far more advanced weapons, horses and armor. The current calendar us the Gregorian calendar.
You have a couple of things wrong. 1. It’s not a pyramid it’s a TEMPLE. 2. During the equinox ,when the sun hits the temple, the Northern-Left corner casts a shadow on the stairway and creates the image of a serpent winding DOWN. The snake appears slowly descending with the sun representing Kukulcan’s descent from the sky to the underworld. 3. The ITZA people who were a particular group of Maya inhabited the city.
To be fair they conquered the Aztecs the maya civilization already ended when the Aztec became an empire. So basically the maya people just became small tribes of many people that still exist today including me 🇸🇻

Another interesting fact there are 4 other upside down pyramids under El Castillo because the supporting it underground because it was built over a cenote. They discovered a plethora of different treasures there and another pyramid is inside it to!
Search up Mictlan. It looks really promising and it is a open world Mesoamerican game taking place during the spanish conquest of Mexico. You also take control of the powers of some of the Mesoamerican gods.
Of course! It's always the European explorers who ruined every single cultures and civilizations just because those civilizations are different from theirs. Always blew it for both the ancients and us alike. 🙄🙄
@@AlexGarcia-tl5bb lol ok thanks to youtube don't need to really read books anymore get with the times and I never said they weren't advanced just no where near what the Spaniards were lol that's why their whole civilations was wiped out in a matter of a few years
I heard it was the winners who were the ones that got their head dismembered because it was looked upon as a holy sacrifice so they were more than honored to be the sacrifice.
2:55 the temple of warriors almost looks similar to the building structure of the Detroit institute of arts. (DIA) it’s stair case reminds me of the fountain and the single statue located at the top of the temple is similar to the DIA’s two statues at the front entrance. Ironically, the mascots for Detroit’s university are the WARRIORS, so god really does have a sense of humor.
@@citrusblast4372 I've done more research now, you are right that Quetzalcoatzin/tl is the Mēxihka name, and that K'uk'ulkan is the Yucatec name and G'uk'umatz the K'iche name
So I just got back from here and actually it was the winning team that was sacrificed it was thought that the strong would be The best candidates to sacrifice
If you want i can share video & plaques of the ruins….!!! Just to clarify!!!! I visited may 2021 & have extensive video & pics….none to back up your claims tho!! 🤷🏽♂️
The winner was sacrificed. They only wanted the best and strongest warrior for the god to bring rain for the crops. That's what a local Mayan guy in a small village about 20 minutes outside the ruins told me.
FLIIP THE PYRAMID UPSIDE DOWN INSIDE OUT AND YOU GET SQUARE BOX TEMPLE WITH STEP GOING FROM BOTHSIDE TOP DOWN INSIDE....A SQUARE BOX WITH INVERT PYRAMID AT PETRA
If you extend the columns of the parthenon, it makes an invisible pyramid on top with square visible temple at bottom. It is the opposite of the maya temple.
We need to deal with this 'statistical fluctuation' at CERN, Chichen Itsa is great and fully-operational (Rascar Kapac)... There's no excuse, someone will just take your job if you ae incompetent... CND
btw so many facts are wrong, like with the game they played they didn’t assassinate the other, the goal scorer in this game would be sacrificed and it would be looked as a good thing to score, the other team and 6 players on the team that won would go back and live there normal lives, it shows you this at the actual site with amazing stone carvings
