I'm 71, play (poorly) and a week ago a Ragtime piano friend who recently "discovered" her, told me about her. She has changed my view concept of reality. I cannot believe she's been around for years and I never heard of her. Cziffra is another such.
Hiromi's obvious enthusiasm and pure joy are infectious, and her interplay with Chick Corea is just flawless. RIP, Chick, you gave me over 40 years of awesome music. Two incredible talents coming together.
Been coming back to this for years. And with my own crappy preferences this is one the greatest “pieces” “jams” “performances” whatever you wanna call that I’ve ever seen. Love it
When the student is ready, the teacher appears. This io me is the story of Chick and Hiromi. Their musical interactions and their musical thoughts along with Hiromi's joy and Chick's awarenerss makes this to me one of the best music and the joy of music makng videos I've seen.
I find Hiromi's music to be more linear feeling and her precision is amazing, whereas chick does more things that create space bringing lose things into a tightness. If that makes any sense.
I've been coming back to this for several years. Hiromi is an international treasure. Her virtuoso skills are utterly astonishing but what I also love about her is her JOY. It just cannot be faked! She's all into it, just having so much fun doing what she loves! We should all strive to live one day the way Hiromi plays one tune. BTW, with my limited music education, I still can't fathom how people are able to synchronise this way. It must be a very special mix of musical instinct and emotional connection.
it's so fascinating how when you close your eyes you can still tell when hiromi is playing and when chick is playing because of their stylistic characters...
Having seen Hiromi play live, I can say this. She gets the greatest joy out of her band mates' performances. As amazing as she is, she isn't at all about ego. This comes through in this video in which she, in some ways, is outpacing Chick.
Hiromi's melody is much better in the live music than its original album. Especially this song. It's very ironic. But if you wanna feel the groovy sound of base, you should definitely try the original one.
Well, there is an interesting fact about the DVD of this concert. It seems that the PAL version just came with a bunch of songs from the concert while the NTSC version released in Japan got all the songs. I did a big big search through all the internet but it seems impossible to find the NTSC version. I would really like to watch the live version of "dejavu" in video , for example... This is a masterpiece. An extraordinary piece of Art.
@@sunhelios9086 Hi, It´s been impossible to find... Only solution is to purchase the original in ebay , I mean the NTSC version. But you will need a DVD player that reads NTSC region. I don´t know, may be some day someone from japan upload the whole thing. been waiting that for years
@@sunhelios9086 Hi, It seems impossible to find via internet /streaming. The only solution is that someone who got the NTSC version in DVD could extract the files and upload the whole concert here ...
Please excuse my ignorance as this may sound stupid. Did they rehearse this or is this what happens when two incredibly talented musicians come together and Jam. I can't work it out, it seems so spontaneous but how can that be possible.
Amazing Hiromi. Face to face with the great Chick Corea she is unfazed. Confident in her virtuosity she smiles with excitement knowing she can hold her own. Love it!
la magie opère , entraînant l’esprit au delà du réel, baignant dans un rêve d’harmoniques envoûtantes, tout y est le bonheur est total merci Hiromi merci Chick… merci
The head bow is one of resolve ...harmonic resooution on the fourth chord; this young lady is not only technically with ease n the keyboard...but she is a fine fine and sensitive composer CHICK was stunned I am sure.
I have listened to this many times before, but can't come up with an explanation of what it is, so, probably makes no sense, but to me, it's improvising in a Lamborghini!! Told you it makes no sense, maybe to some, thanks for posting@!!
THIS changed my life. It was the first time I fallen in love with Jazz piano and improvisation. As a person only learned a few years classical piano, I started my music journey again in my 30th. And now I'm studying in a music university for contemporary performance. ❤❤
Chiudete le immagini. Io ora riesco a distinguere Hiromi dal grandissimo Chick Corea. C.C. che vi consiglio di ascoltare nella stratosferica formazione della Elektrick Band. Wow!
Some parts of Chic and some of Hiromi are definetly improv, justo go and listen other versiona of "Old Castle by the river, in the middle of a forest" and You Will see
