We had our first chicken harvest of nearly 50 freedom ranger meat birds in July 2013. The fine folks at Thicketty Mountain Farms allowed us to hire out the use of their processing equipment and their tutelage.
Good for you for raising your own food! I have 4 hens so not enough for meat but we love their eggs. I also raise quail for eggs and hope to harvest them sometime next year.
