Chicken Kofta Kebab Recipe By Delicious Storm Stir Fry Chicken Kofta Kebab Recipe
500 grams ground chicken
1 small onion, finely chopped
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
1 green chili, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons bread crumbs (for binding)
1 egg (optional, for binding)
For the Kebabs:
Skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak in water for at least 30 minutes before use)
2 tablespoons oil for grilling
Instructions:
Prepare the Kofta Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, green chili, cilantro, and mint leaves.
Add the ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add the bread crumbs and the egg (if using) to the mixture. The bread crumbs help to bind the mixture together. If the mixture feels too wet, add a little more bread crumbs.
Mix everything thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps the flavors to meld and makes the mixture easier to handle.
Shape the Koftas:
Take a small portion of the mixture (about the size of a golf ball) and shape it into a log or oval shape around a skewer. If not using skewers, you can shape them into small patties or meatballs.
Repeat with the remaining mixture.
Cook the Kebabs:
Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat. If using an oven, preheat to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Brush the kebabs with a little oil to prevent sticking.
Grilling: Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice char on the outside.
Oven: Place the kebabs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through, until fully cooked and slightly browned.
Serve:
Remove the kebabs from the grill or oven and let them rest for a few minutes.
Serve hot with a side of mint chutney, yogurt sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce. Garnish with additional chopped cilantro and lemon wedges if desired.
