This recipe is an easy and fun appetizer (or even dinner) to make! It's inspired by the lettuce wrap I get in Chinese restaurants that is made from the meat of Peking duck. With five-spice powder, hoisin sauce, crunchy water chestnuts and crisp iceberg lettuce, it was an instant hit!

About Pai:
Pailin “Pai” Chongchitnant is the author of the Hot Thai Kitchen cookbook, co-host of a Canadian TV series One World Kitchen on Gusto TV, and creator and host of the RU-vid channel Pailin's Kitchen.
Pai was born and raised in southern Thailand where she spent much of her "playtime" in the kitchen. She traveled to Canada to study Nutritional Sciences at the University of British Columbia, and was later trained as a chef at Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in San Francisco.
After working in both Western and Thai professional kitchens, she decided that her passion really lies in educating and empowering others to cook at home via RU-vid videos, her cookbook, and cooking classes. So good. Authentic flavor. We used ground turkey and it tastes so good. And the dark Filipino soy sauce is Silver Swan or Datu Puti. Enjoy.

I’ve tried so many lettuce wraps and never found one that rang my bell until now. The oyster sauce and dark soy did it! These wraps are to die for. Thanks Pai.

I like to make shredded chicken and then toss in a little sauce. In a butter lettuce leaf I layer some rice, chicken, thin cucumber strips, mint, basil, and cilantro. For a dipping sauce, I use fish sauce, sugar, a lot of red pepper flake, and a squeeze of lime juice. If I don't have lettuce I'll use rice wrappers.

I just made Chicken Lettuce Wrap last week. I did mine with oyster sauce and fish sauce. Me and my mon use to wrap the chicken up with rice together.

Your wok is set too high due to the stove in between wok and table. Maybe its not a problem by now that you have grown taller after 7 yrs since this was made. Otherwise, this is the best video about how to make this dish that I have searched so far today.

+Christian Walk Thanks for the request! Outside of Thailand it's very hard to find one of the main ingredients for the filling, sweet preserved daikon, so it's not the most accessible dish for most people. But i'll keep it in mind as an idea!

I take those mung bean threads that I usually put into my (fried or fresh) spring rolls and plunge them into hot oil (instead of hot water) for a couple of seconds, then extract them. I crumble them up and put them on top of the filling to get a nice crunch. Though those lettuce wrap copy-cat recipes never say this, it's my perception that P. F. Chang's does that. In fact, I'd swear to it. You've got a super channel, Pai!

Hi Pai thanks for easy to follow recipe I made lettuce wraps they were soo yummy Boston lettuce was a bit too soft did you use iceberg I cant remember as I have a brain injury due to car crash thanks again

I just made this dish. My brother didn't look very happy when he came to the table, but I must say, he ate about 9 lettuce filled with all the good things I had on hand: Thai basil, fresh mint, and cilantro. The chicken fry was so tasty!

Awesome! I’m allergic to soy so I use aminos. I like to add mushrooms or other veggies I find at the store that day. I sometimes slice radish and put ground peanuts on top. I’m hungry now

A vegan for 4 1/2 years I use Wan Ja Shan vegetarian mushroom oyster sauce. It’s excellent and hard to tell the difference from authentic oyster sauce. Amazon or an Asian Market.
