Chicken Little is one of the Animated Films that spawned from the greatness of Shrek. But why is the 2005 Disney Animated Film Chicken Little so universally so HATED? Let's find out!
I just hate that they brainwashed Foxy Loxy, played it for laughs, the aliens offered to undo it, but Runt needed a love interest so lets just keep her basically lobotomized!
@@eway44 I thought the dude said her brain got scrambled when they teleported her back along with the city & everyone else and offered to turn her back to the way she was. I didn't know it made her stupid. I thought it just turned her from a mean tomboy to a nice girly girl
I remember when this movie came out, I was 11 and just starting 5th grade. Even at that age, I thought it looked stupid, and the trailers made me want to *not* see it any cost. Unfortunately, one of my sister’s friends had a movie birthday party, and I got dragged along to it. Originally they were gonna see Zathura, which would’ve been fine, but there was a scheduling error and we watched this steaming turd instead. So not only was I forced to watch this against my will, but I had to do so while crammed into a cracker box mall theater with a bunch of stinky and rowdy 6 and 7 year olds. Then the next spring, the idiots on my little league team were constantly quoting the baseball scene during games and practice. As someone who was raised by two narcissists, Buck Cluck is probably one of my most hated characters of all time!
Ironically the world of chicken little (oaky oks I think it was called) seems like a worse place to live with worse citizens than that of the hunger games dystopian future. Imagine making a whole movie, not for telling a true story of a individual or celebrating them, but just for the sole purpose of insulting/pushing down a real person, a child none the less!
Same here, I loved it too as a kid, but as I got older I started to understand why so many people hated this film, after I re watched I realized it didn’t age well.
Bro Madagascar came out the same year as chicken little in 2005, yet Madagascar has way better animation than this even though the art styles are kinda similar where it’s very cartoony and its plays with the squash and stretch, but Madagascar still somehow looks better in my opinion.
I always thought that for Chicken Little to have an (in world) movie, his dad must have at least signed something to allow these people to use his son's image
I know this may be one of the most controversial opinions on chicken little, but I actually LOVED it! So many plot twists I didn’t see coming and is one of Disney’s best since the lion king
Chicken Little gets a little too much hate but I think it’s just ok. To be fair, this movie did made Disney lose a lot of money. I’m more so curious to see how people think movies like The Wild or Space Chimps are even liked? Is it nostalgia? Are they young? Or do they just bring up the old, “It’s a kids movie, why are you criticizing a movie made for kids?” I still don’t understand why people think like this thinking their favorite movie from childhood is free from criticism when movies that were, “made for children” that has the lowest rated age so that anyone can watch AND talk about it.
the only scene in this movie that I love (and tbh the only scene I remember lol) is the baseball scene. It honestly feels like a scene that should be at the end of a movie but it's near the beginning. edit: just got to the part where u said that LOL, glad we agree haha
As good of a movie as Mitchell’s vs the Machines is, I’m glad I’m not the only one turned off by the fact that the youngest member of the family sounded like the oldest.
I rewatched Chicken Little during My Walt Disney animation marathon and this is got to be Disney worst films from their animation studio. I hate this movie not just for itself, but for its production history. Basically, Chicken Little was actually gonna be about a anxious little girl that goes to camp to face her fears and reconnect with her father (Buck Cluck was actually likeable in the early stage). There's not aliens or baseball stuff, just a wholesome movie. But then the Disney executives wanted it to change so they can compete with Shrek or any trend during that time. Never let any executives in the creative process of a movie.
And then a year after this movie they distributed a movie it’s called ‘The Wild’. I would take this movie over ‘The Wild’ at least. Edit: Disney didn’t really make ‘The Wild’, but they did distribute it. ‘Shrek’ solos both of these movies (Chicken Little and The Wild) anyways.
It facisinates me how many Shrek clones spawned after the success of Shrek. Only for most of them to fail due to executives not understanding what made Shrek good in the first place. Seeing Disney and Dreamworks themselves chasing Shrek's success really shows that. At least Pixar was still doing it's own thing at that time.
There WAS originally gonna be a Chicken Little sequel, but that got cancelled because when John Lasseter became the head of Disney’s animation studio back in 2006 (I think), he wasn’t a fan of DisneyToon's made-for-video projects and promptly canceled many of the in-development sequels, this included Chicken Little 2, as well as a sequel to “Meet the Robinsons”.
@@spaceboyctstudios2934 okay, Chicken Little not getting a sequel, I’m okay with. But if it was going to be good, then I wish they would’ve released Meet The Robinson’s 2. The first movie is amazing!
1) This movie is a work of genius compared to the utter crap coming out of Disney's backside these days. 2) You make valid points about it being an obvious riff on Shrek, having several nonsensical moments and that the father was awful. 3) The flaws are part of why I actually like the movie. As a father, I've screwed up soooo many things, though I hope to God not nearly at the level this movie's dad did. To me, Chicken Little is a redemption story for the son and father (and the son's misfit friends), a journey to reconciliation as terrible circumstances, many hopelessly beyond their control, drive them towards some very maladaptive-to-awful behavior to compensate. Chicken Little's resilience is an inspiration to me. The father, for all his bad parenting skills, truly wants to protect his son. Overall, I enjoyed many of the movie's pop-culture references, gags and musical score. I even played the video game on PS2 back in the day because of the film. As for Foxy Loxy, I'm sure entire ethics papers could be drawn up about that one--a study in extremes. She was an awful sentient being before her brain-drain, a slave to her ego and worst impulses. Then she was turned into a slave of subservience. Neither was a good thing, but for what it is worth, socially she was less bad (I refuse to say she was better off) in her final state.
I just can't hate this movie. It can be funny in some moments, and if you are a pole some lines are funny. The animation seem unique, some soundtrack score is grand, and like most people i don't find Buck Cluck to be the worst dad in movies. He dose care for his son, just he can't properly show his care for Little. And the aliens are perhaps the best part of the movie. Kirby is adorable, their mechs have glorious apperance, they have memorable theme songs, their flying sourcers by sticked together faking the gray sky above planet earth.
I found your channel through your wild review (I’m really glad you posted that because i kept remembering parts of that movie but it was so irrelevant that i forgot its name and it was really bothering me) I am so shocked you only have 1k subscribers! Your content is really amazing and the quality is better than alot of youtubers with millions of followers. I look forward to your future content and watching your channel grow :)
i watched ur the wild video the other day and i think i saw son of the mask too. just found your channel, i love reviews channels and your voice over is great ( ive done voice acting / audio narration for years and i get sick of people' voices really fast due to oversaturation in my head lol) but i could listen to your videos in the background. which is hard for me to find any, i cant listen to podcasts really. so anyway thats my feedback and comment as someone who knows the effort that goes into recording & scripts ! i have subscribed.
I think this movie could have been better if they had maked Buck a more likeble and sympathetic character who always comforts and helps his son, Chloe (Chicken Little's deceased mother) being alive and also comforting and helping her son, creating original songs for the film instead of putting several aleatory pop culture-oriented songs, making a more emotional, heartwarming, touching, serious, dark, dramatic, and tragic tone and instead of the mean-spirited tone, removing all the aleatory pop culture references, and creating a consistency/connection between the baseball game 🏟️ 🏏 ⚾ 🥎 plot and the alien invasion 👽🛸 plot (like Chicken Little using is baseball skills against the aliens). In my opinion, the film could have been a lot better ❤️❤️❤️.
When I was a kid, I was TERRIFIED of this movie. I still remember going over to my aunt's house and being afraid what she put that movie on. To do this day I have never watched it again.
9:22 I always thought chicken little hid the evidence because that’s what you do if you have an unsupportive parent, you wouldn’t want to share something with them even if it was to show them they were wrong.
TBH, with all talk of the film (and bad language in this video) aside, I really love the music being used in the first part of this video. Sounds like it came from the early 90s. What is it called?
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rlz8y6wSuGg.html Not a fan of the language? Sorry lol, I just try and keep my personality in the videos.
Wanna make Buck Cluck more likable? Show him actually be supportive of Chicken Little. You can have him be embarrassed after Chicken Little rings the bell initially, but when he sees the press try to humiliate him even further, have him actually be a parent and tell the press to f..k off. Or after Chicken Little accidently pulls the fire alarm after being subjected to Foxy Loxy's latest prank, and after the principal berates Chicken Little saying he's NOTHING like Buck, Buck berates the principal back by saying "Hey! That is my son you are slandering! I don't care if he's not like me, I will not tolorate anyone treating him like garbage!". Then on the drive hime, when Chicken Little suggests trying out for baseball, Buck could say "Really? I thought you weren't interested in sports.". Chicken Little explains why he wants to try out, so he can stick it to Foxy Loxy and the principal. Buck says "Son? You don't gotta prove anything to those jerks. But if you think your able to step up to the plate? There's one thing I gotta say.......Play ball!", and maybe he helps Chicken Little train for the big game. You can still have him grieve over the loss of his wife, but knows that even if he doesn't always know what to say, he still does everything he can to support and help his son. Have him be like early Season Homer Simpson where he is a very flawed individual who still genuinely cares about his son and even if he's not perfect, will still do anything for his son.
The game win scene definitely should NOT be at the end The whole point is that he gets the respect that he wants at that point, but then he has to decide whether to keep his glory as it is by hiding the truth and leaving the 'sky is falling' thing behind, or risk sacrificing his glory by bringing it up again. Him having to deal with this dilemma is something I could always feel sympathy for, and it makes the movie a bit more layered
I think The Wild is better than this, the animals there look better and ripping off madagascar isnt as ironic and failure prone as ripping off shrek. Also the only parts I remembered from watching as a kid are when the duck sings the Spice Girls song and that the plot was the IT'S ALL ALIENS meme
This movie was garbage but the line "Just leave me some ammo, and some water, and some chips if you have them" got a smirk out of me at the end. The only thing I really liked about this movie was the use of 70's tracks like Diana Ross and Elton John because my family listens to that music a lot.
I like to think that the reason they added aliens to thr story was because Spielberg's adaptation of War Of The Worlds came out 5 months before, even the movie joked about it.
I like this movie sure, but I didn't like how Buck was handled. I'm five minutes in and it's clear I missed a detail or two on WHAT was wrong with him.
1:50 Hoodwinked was *never* a Shrek ripoff. Cory Edwards made a point to distance Hoodwinked as far away as possible to Shrek's approach to poking fount fairytales, because Hoodwinked had a much more original premise up its sleeve, with the story of Little Red Hiding Hood retold as a crime drama told from four different points of view.
This movie ruined my life in kindergarten and first grade. I even remember my parents calling it a piece of garbage ugly film. I HATE this movie, it ruined my life. But I love your vid, thank u for validating my feelings for it!☺️
I LOVE TOONTOWN!!! I never had friends to play with though. if the game is still up which I think it is last time I checked if it was running was during last June and it was still up. Maybe I can ask my mom to subscribe so I can play the game again if somebody can play with me! We could be friends! Does that sound like fun? does anybody wanna be friends in town with me? you can if you want to!
Chicken Little sucks, but I feel that people who are s**ting on Wish should have known better than this. Everybody does not hate Wish. Those who do are on the unfair Disney hate train that's been happening recently thanks to Clownfish TV who complain about this movie is “woke”, when there’s nothing in the film that is woke. It’s already hypocritical when those people are dog piling Disney have no idea what they’ve been through in the past few years, and this is one of the reasons why Chicken Little will always be worse than Wish. Other than literally everyone else who explains why Chicken Little is bad. At least Wish has some promise that it doesn’t deserve the hate because it has some good ideas despite its flaws, but Chicken Little has been screwed over so much that it’s a Shrek rip off.
@@FirstClassJunk Okay, I actually did enjoy the video since its funnier than I expected, but my point is that there's a reason why this movie is ain't everyone's cup of tea, and it's the reason why I say, "to each their own".
I remember watching the Movie in Spanish as a kid because I’m a native speaker, and the end song was way better, to the point where when I first watched it in English, my brain thought, “what the hell is this?”.
Why did you make chicken little look so creepy in your thumbnail? Did you just enlarge his eyes but since they’re already black, they just made him look creepy?
This is the first time I hear Chicken Little was trying to be Shrek, it makes a lot of sense, I enjoyed this review a lot although I don't necessarily hate the movie, I just hate the dad, I hate him with all my might lol.
It's Disney's attempt at an edgy animated Film. I think it is and I explain that in the video, through the mean spirited nature of the town, pop culture references etc
I hate it when people hate on Chicken Little, it’s not that bad! it’s not as bad as the Emoji movie! I don’t think anybody’s gonna argue with me about that.
How in the fresh hell is Chicken Little "edgy"? What version of Chicken Little did you watch? The Saturday Night Live parody? If this movie was edgy, they would've made Chicken Little talk like an emo teenager or something.
