Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds ru-vid.comUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.

for people who have chickens as a hobby and homestead purpose, this is beautiful. Who cares if its overkill? this man put a lot of effort into creating a beautiful chicken run. And on top of that, it is going to last years! Great video!

When I was 12 a friend built a barn and he said my job was goffor, go for this go for that. Mainly it was just packing beer to him and his brothers. Made $20 a week, thought I was rich. He had me paint the entire barn with used motor oil because they had banned krisole. I’m 52 now and that barn is as good as the day the last nail was drove in it.

You did a fantastic job. Thank you for the video. I would suggest something: if you put cinderblocks all around the run and fill the holes with soil to plant flowers & vegetables for the chickens they will LOOOVEEE it. Plus the cinder blocks will prevent animals to try to dig under as well.

I can see using the leaves in the chicken run. Keep the girls comfortable. I would have put the wire on the run before dumping the leaves, but to each his own. The run looks great. I can see using the manure on the garden. You may even want to let the chickens spread the leaves. Great video. Thank you for sharing. I think you really thought this project out. God bless America.

Probably way too late to mention this since it was posted almost 4 years ago, but the chicken wire that you left loose so you could get to the latch on the chicken coup worries me. My hat's off to you Pete! That is a heck of a lot of work. We had strong winds up here in Oregon last week and part of our fence blew over. My wife and I put up an 8 foot section and are looking toward fixing the rest of it in the Summer. We did an entire fence on our last house so we know what we are facing. Totally wore me out, but nothing compared to digging those post holes, etc. I thought you might use corrugated material for the roof, but it looks like they will be able to seek shelter under the coop. Nice job!

Not quite sure why it's necessary to bury posts 3ft into the ground? Level out the ground, use some pavers to elevate the boards off the ground and predator-proof the perimeter with hardware cloth. If you don't want it to move drill a couple holes and drive several 2-3ft pieces of rebar should hold it.

Are you in an area that gets very much snow? I am in an area that gets snow and the Avery netting would get too heavy with snow and break/bend. My brother built a pen using chain link fencing with supports. Poultry netting on the ground rusts and deteriorates here. I used the same hardware cloth for my walls of my pen enclosure. I am not sure how strong poultry netting will work for the roof. I like your structure u built with the strong gate. Good job! I am thinking of rebuilding my pen structure similar to how you did yours, but It is twice the size. Will probably use chain link fencing for the roof to keep out predators from the sky....

REALLY NICE! However, you should have laid down galvanized and coated deer-fencing down on the ground to at least 2 feet outside the fence. That way predators wouldn’t be able to dig under the fence..... I see what you did with the hardware cloth. I supposed that would work, I would just feel more comfortable if it extended all the way across the interior under the run.... Regardless, Very Nice!

yw, just noticed that you do have a heavy gauge wire inside the window. Ive seen a few peoples chicken coops, and some have a pully system, possibly that would suffice, or a sliding window but for that youd most certainly Id think have to put some heavy gauge wire outside to, to protect against those critters. tc

True hardware cloth is stronger. If I see any signs of a predator, I'll definitely put the hardware cloth on the top. Thanks and God bless.

Just found your channel, one question: where you left that loose chicken wire on top to unlatch the window aren't you afraid of raccoons getting under it and eating your chickens. Larry

Do you get snow? If so how to keep falling snow from building up on ceiling and thus pushing the screening down. Do you have a plan for that?
@petebeasttexashomesteading
@petebeasttexashomesteading 6 лет назад
SCJ Johnson No snow here or if we do it's just a dusting once every couple of years. I had someone else say they've used chain link fence for the ceiling of the run.

If you is interested in coop plans the greatest success that I have ever had was with the Coop Magic Tactic (just google it) without a doubt the most helpful course that I have ever followed.

tom mac I probably could have gotten away with two feet on the chicken run but not on a fence. I just don't want the posts to move.

I have found hardware cloth ALL THE WAY AROUND TOP AND BOTTOM. Possums can crawl up the hardware cloth. If possums can so can mink, weasles etc. I started with hardware cloth on the bottom only and later enclosed the whole thing after watching the critters crawl right up it and into the coop through the other fencing. Chicken wire...they can chew right through.

Those are the happiest chicks! and thats an amazing run. Please watch up top where its not secure. Raccoons are terrible at ripping thru things to get the chickens.

Here in south Louisiana, it gets so hot in the sun that I put some tin on the top of half of the run. I would had used that fiber glass sheets but had the tin on hand. I like your run but I will be replacing mine because we discovered termites. The.swings were a great idea but I might have trouble keeping the Grand Darlins off them. All in all, the run looks great and first class.
