The best thing about stop motion movies is that they age like wine, most of the time they never look tacky or outdated (like old CGI does, or even some modern CGI...) Such an amazing art form that I hope never dies

I hate to break it to you but this whole movie is CGI, it's just made to look like clay... No production will get funding for a fully stop motion film anymore, it's just too expensive and CGI is way more cost effective. Not to mention the kind of input that Netflix will have had in the reviews process, they will have reviewed, fed back and signed off on every stage of creation (to insure their investment), and you just cant iterate that many times on a fully stop motion movie, it just takes too long. That being said I do agree with you, stop motion ages well, CGI is soulless... And this is coming from someone with 10+ years experience working in CGI.

Aardman uses real stop motion in their films, there's footage on their social media pages showing a glimpse of the animation process It's not like the Lego Movie where they fake it; I have no doubt they use CGI for effects and to touch things up, but the core part of the film is stop motion

It can depend on the production values. Aardman, which made this film, can crank out a lot in a short period because they have made a good name for themselves. Other directors have to go through big name studios that reluctantly give stipends for production, basically they have to perform like seals with constantly giving progress updates, making do with what little money they get. Then they are marketed like indie films so the wider audience gets little exposure to their existence. It's all part of the push back to steer clear from practical effects and rely more on CG which is surprisingly more expensive than stop motion.

Genuine question - what is it about the movie theatre experience that you prefer? I went to the theatre last weekend and for what I paid, it didn't feel like it was worth it. For my family of 4 it was close to $100 (tickets were $20 each per person, plus a medium popcorn and soda for each of us). Sure you get a bigger screen, better sound, nice seats but for me that isn't worth $100.

I agree I hate how they treated Julia, she could have still done the voice. Thandiwe Newton doesn’t sound anything like Ginger. Zachary Levi is a good actor and voice actor after doing Flynn Rider in Tangled, but he’s not Rocky. Mel Gibson is the only one who could do the voice of Rocky. I like that some of the other voice actors are back especially Miranda Richardson for Mrs. Tweedy. I bet Mr. Tweedy is in hiding from his ex lol!

@@joeerickson516 Remember at the end of the movie Mr. Tweety open the door and said to a gravy soaked Mrs. Tweety I told you those chickens were organized. Yes the door fell on her but analyzing the amount of pressure applied when Mr.Tweety open the door the weight could not have weighed more than 30lbs. Most likely she ended up with a fractured skull or concussion.

I rewatch the first chicken run and compared it to the first chicken run Mrs. Tweedy and the trailer for the sequel that she looks very different personalities and voice in the first one Mrs. Tweedy has some gray hair and no makeup and the sequel that Mrs. Tweedy has dark hair and makeup I think tactically Mrs Tweedy's younger sister that explains that Mrs. Tweedy attitude in the first trying to be more successful than her sister

Chicken Run is without a doubt my favorite Aardman movie of all time. With the animation, the writing, the characters, and the humor from the first movie. I was about 28 when Flushed Away came out. My absolute favorite. When I was a little kid in the early 90s, Aardman had little claymation bits on tv that I absolutely enjoyed. I think he’s also behind some of the Chevron commercials.

Yes. One of my favourite movies as a child. Usually I don't go too much into nostalgia or memeber- berries for franchises nowadays and such. But I am excited to see where this one goes. And the humour and slight action is still the same as the last one. And if it is through this one, then I still might like it too.

Anymore suggestions would great though. I haven't seen one where there some cavemen and then they explore their world. Not sure of the name.

Chicken Run was pretty radical in its themes to a mass audience. Depicting farming like a gulag or treblinka. Its sad that most of the people who enjoyed the film support the factory farming of chickens.

OH MY GOD I'M SO EXCITED! I will say, it just doesn't feel right without Ginger's voice. (No hate to the new actress.) But it's glorious seeing each of these characters animated again, and with such gorgeous colors! I know it can't compete with the original but I'm excited anyway, Chicken Run was my favorite of favorites as a kid. Ginger and crew have my heart. Aardman did great with their Shaun the Sheep netflix flick, so if this is anything like those, it'll be a great time.

This movie came out just a year before I was born. To see a sequel with the same villain (now more of a threat with the tech of modern technology) is going to be something fresh with the clay stop-motion being presented in the late 2023s. CAN'T WAIT
