Welcome to today's recipe! We're making a delicious and healthy Chicken Turai Salan, a perfect blend of tender chicken and flavorful ridge gourd (turai) cooked in a rich, spiced curry. This traditional dish is packed with nutrients and great for family meals. It's easy to prepare and full of authentic flavors that everyone will enjoy. Let's get started.
INGREDIENTS :
350gm chicken, cut into pieces
2-3 medium ridge gourds (turai), peeled and chopped
2 onions, finely chopped
2-3 tomatoes, finely chopped
2 green chilies, slit
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste or chopped
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Salt to taste
3-4 tbsp oil
INSTRUCTION :
1. Heat Oil:
In a large pot or pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
2. Fry Onions and Garlic:
Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
3. Cook the Chicken:
Add the chicken pieces to the pot and stir-fry until they turn white and start to brown slightly.
4. Add Spices:
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Stir well to coat the chicken with the spices.
5. Tomatoes:
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and the oil starts separating from the masala.
6. Add Ridge Gourd (Turai):
Add the chopped ridge gourd (turai) and green chilies to the pot. Mix everything together.
7. Simmer:
Cover and let the curry simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the ridge gourd becomes tender.
9. Garnish and Serve:
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with roti, naan, or rice.
