Chicken Waterers - What kinds to use where, and my favorite models 

I have one of the blue buckets. Found out I don’t care for nipple waterers on bottom of anything, so I added cups to the blue bucket. Works great. The blue bucket does indeed slow down algae growth very well. And no, the blue bucket folks don’t sponsor me😂

I agree, not all nipples are created equal.

You know...I spent way too much money on a bell waterer like the one you like with the green top...mine leaks out the water every time except for about 1/4 of the water... not sure why. The food grade plastic buckets drilled by us and horizonal nipples is hands down the very best I've had. We couldn't hang ours so we went with horizontal nipples and they have lasted 3 years and not leaked. Cost us about 10.00 bucks to make it. I agree with you trying to find the perfect water situation drives me nuts :) Wish we could go nipple water through the winters too, but you have to have electric in the barn to make that happen.

where can i buy them?

I bought the cheap big box store blue bucket with nipples and in about 3 months it cracked and broke where the handle connects and fell. It is not very well made at all

Yes agreed not all nipples are made equal n effective. U have to check n test fr the best effective ones.

they have hozizontal nipple now. and just plug it with any water container instead of buying their bucket.

You can't blame the waterer because you allowed it to freeze.
