On anarchy servers there are lag machines with chickens. A glitch with lichen allows you to break entity cramming limits and if you just cycle the eggs to dispense in the same chamber they were laid in VOILA! Infinite chickens lagging the server.

And for this reason the chickens that spawn as a part of a jockey don't lay eggs

Ok, so I went take a quick look at the chicken page of the mobestiary and I am starting to believe you are 100% right.
