I remember watching this episode & when she ask Chief Boden if he remembered her, I was like “What? Who is she?” then when she proceeds to tell him & his reply “I always wondered what happened to you”, the waterworks started. This was such a great scene.

In my country, we have what we call "Life Boxes". They are like a window that can be opened from the outside. Inside there is a child's cradle where a baby is placed. It is warm, it is safe and the staff gets a warning. The medics immediately examine the child, the child is fed, etc. Parents who leave their child in this place are not penalised.

Some Arizona firehouses have 24-hour No Question Asked baby drop-off locations. if I remember correctly we’ve had them for more than 20+ years but the 1st and only baby turned in happened just a few years ago. The firefighter who found the baby was adopted by the firefighter & his wife.

Every time I watch this it reminds me of a young lady I ran into years ago. She had overdosed and we wanted to get her seen. She at the time stated it was accidental so we could not really do much but I spoke with her for almost an hour trying to convince her to be seen. A few years later I saw her again and she asked if I remembered her which at the time I did not. She told me she was that girl who overdosed and when she went home she sat and thought about our conversation. She told me she did not have a family that was close so she never had a male figure actually care enough to want to help her but respect her enough to not force her to do anything. She said that it was the first time she ever looked at a man as a father figure and she cried all night because she knew that there was a life for her. I asked her how she was and she introduced me to her kids. She said had I not have shown her that she was worthy of being loved as a human and not for pleasure she may not have been here today and had those kids. The job has it tough times and it’s hard times but knowing you changed just one life makes all the bad worth while to see one good.

You could feel the emotion through the screen when this happened. As a former volunteer fireman myself, I can honestly say that there is no other feeling in the world like being able to help somebody in a moment of need or when they are injured or whatever the case may be. You work long shifts and you just hope that at the end of the day that what you did for that person was enough and that they’ll be OK. Granted we never had a baby left on the doorstep of our fire station but every once in a while, we would have somebody come to the fire station looking to thank us, and although we don’t expect gratitude for what we’ve done, it does make our day a little bit better when we meet somebody who pulled through because of our efforts. I can understand completely the range of emotions that chief Boden went through here.

In 2010, I found a toddler who was left in a Wal-Mart parking lot. It had snowed recently, and with the windchill factor, it was like 5 below. The child was left in a truck with the windows down. The child had on a t-shirt and a little pair of jeans and was barefooted. I called 911, and the dispatcher told me that I needed to stop making a clicking noise. I explained to the dispatcher that was the baby's teeth chattering. Everyone responded to the location, and the baby's temp was 78 degrees, and the baby had ringworm . The baby bottle was full of Hennessey. The mom was found in Wal-Mart and passed out over her shopping cart. A lady asked the paramedic on scene if she could the baby a pack of cookies. The kid ate two small packs of cookies and drank 2 little Sunny Delights. When I went to court, I learned this was the second time that the baby had been found. The state took the baby and placed it in foster care. The mom was on the run. I would love to see that kid and know everything turned out okay one day.

You never know who's life or lives you've impacted along lifes road, or who will touch you in your time of need. This episode shows all of Us the meaing and reason our Living Creator said! Love yea one another, this child was told how she was recused by a stranger when she was a thown away baby by her Biological parent or parents or someone. This baby stayed in his mind fron night one and I'm sure it deepy bothered him 12 year ago that anyone would do this to a baby. As the story unfolded before the Cheifs Eyes of who this child is he remembered her as that baby, he went through alot of emotional thoughts and feelings all at one time. He choked back the tears of joy because she as a 12 year old looked for her angle. He was so happy how she turned out and what type of young lady she was becoming, y'all the average 12 or 13 year olds in the Hoods are nothing like this child you can tell she was an innocent child with an innocent country life of living. He could see that, these sort of thoughts do run through you when see and here a child that speaks to you heart. 🙏

Reminds me of the story of Michael Patterson. A retired NJ State Trooper, Matthew Bailey, got pulled over by young State Trooper Patterson. They got to talking and figured out they were from the same town. During the course of the conversation, Bailey recounted a story of helping to deliver a baby while on duty. Was the first baby he had delivered. Turned out that Officer Patterson was that baby. A chance encounter that ended in a friendship.

This isn't nearly as dramatic, but I can relate to what the Boden character would have felt. I had a moment some years back in my bookstore where a young man recognized me from another store I worked at. He said I sold him his first computer coding book. He told me he had just been hired a security analyst because of his computer skills. To think he remembered and told me of a simple transaction did make me slightly emotional. Boden would have felt a thousand times that I'm sure. Great scene.
