@ablackprep wrong.. nfl and NFLPA have already reached an agreement where they will take the "hit" of the revenue loss this year and spread it over 4 years. The cap is still going to rise, by a lot actually, it will just be slightly less of a raise than was originally projected before this covid stuff. The world's economy literally has nothing to do with the salary cap of the nfl. Lol

Dorsey was still the GM at the time of Mahomes being drafted, yes. But Veach famously did all the leg work... to which Dorsey was fired soon after.

And to add, Dorsey was a great stepping stone from Pioli, but was far from perfect. The Chiefs are STILL paying Eric Berry, all thanks to Dorsey, for one shining example of his ineptness in contract negotiations. Something that Veach has already proved to be damn near a god for.

Dorsey drafted a few key pieces, but no, he did not “assemble” this team. Veach signed 60%-70% of the guys currently playing for KC. He gets the majority of credit for the Super Bowl.

Obviously they aren’t fortune tellers, but give credit where it is due. They traded up for a qb they didn’t even need... and didn’t take Watson... and he wins MVP his first year starting... and Super Bowl MVP the next. It’s ok, you can tip your cap.

@@fromfleshtosteel Andy's ability as a QB coach really helped lower the risk. Mahomes was a more raw prospect than Watson. But Mahomes unquestionably had the higher ceiling of the two. There are throws on his college tape that are simply jawdropping. And of course we see him doing that stuff in the NFL now as well. Andy was able to help polish some of the more raw aspects of his game.

Wrong on several levels. Did you know Berry is still a cap hit? That’s thanks to Dorsey. Everything that Veach has done has secured talent in “prove it” type contracts. Contracts that will continue to NOT be such overwhelming cap hits as the cap goes up. The Chiefs are going to be very good for a very long time with premier talent. That’s not an opinion, it’s numbers.

Keaden Wheeler that’s a tough one berry came off an all pro year signed that new deal and then tore his Achilles and was never the same. Houston as we all know was just milking the deal lol and then with Hali I think Dorsey was expecting him to retire but he ended up playing a few more years

I invite you to look at the structuring of the contract rather than just looking at a final number. You’ll soon see Veach is the man and Mahomes took a wildly team friendly deal... for the next decade.

You see the number “$500 mill” and think they sold the team to him. The contract is over the next 10 years... that spaces a lot of the money out and gives Veach the flexibility to sign other guys and plan for the long term. Get off the headlines and look at the fine print.

@@braydenpresley1437 And really it's over 12 years instead of 10 years. It's heavily backloaded too. Basically $30M combined for 2020 and 2021 ($15M per year). Then a 5-year period of about $200M ($40M per year). Then a 5-year period of $250M ($50M per year). They'll probably restructure it later when they need some cap room. By the time we get to the later years of the contract, I think it will look like a pretty good bargain for KC compared to other QB contracts around the league.

Adrian Buck I think he’s gonna let the Chiefs restructure his deal yearly, and backload his contract significantly. I think Mahomes and Veach came up with this contract in order to not negatively effect the other quarterbacks in line for a contract. I think Mahomes will give them what they need to field a legitimate team every year, and the Chiefs will push that money to years 6-10 without any intentions of reaching year six.
