He only had 27 attempts because the eagles offense had so many long drives. Also, the Bolton TD on the fumble return took away an offensive drive and the Toney punt return turned that into a very short possession for the offense. That's why he didn't have the passing yardage. He did complete 78% of his passes, had 3 TDs, no turnovers and a 130+ passer rating though. He took what the defense gave him and didn't try to do to much. He also had a couple of big time runs on one good ankle. There is no doubt he was the MVP.

Mahomes had a 131 passer rating, nearly 30 points higher than Hurts. Off the charts QB rating. The Chiefs used the run more and limited Mahomes pass plays quite a bit, and it was effective. If you consider Mahomes scrambling (on one leg) to set up the go ahead score, it was MVP level performance.

They say his stats weren't that great, then try to minimize Mahomes on one hand, but praise the eagles defense on the other. He scored every possession in the second half, no turnovers the entire game, only missed on one pass in the entire second half. If he tried forcing the ball deep so he can pad his numbers but got incomplete passes, then he's a bad quarterback, not MVP, but when he takes what defense gives you, and beats you playing the way you force him to, he's not only MVP of season n Superbowl, but he's in GOAT league now, lol
@nathanielsmith2341
@nathanielsmith2341 Год назад
@@lorenzahill5365 And even though all of the "all knowing" analysts missed it. That "ring around the Allegretti" play that ended in the incompletion by Mahomes, especially having Mahomes throw it away was designed as a diversion to help sell Skyy Moore cut across the formation for the next play where he acted as if he was going to cut across but stopped and "corn dogged" the EAGLES defense with a TD. The genius of that whole set of plays from the 1st down was to dupe the EAGLES D into that wide open frontier TD by Skyy Moore.

One just needs to look at Reid's record after a bye week. Give him 2 weeks to study a defense and devise an attack plan? It usually doesn't end well for the other team. The same goes for Spags. One can't blame the Eagles' players, they played their miinds out. But they flat out got out-coached.
@tommyward3950

Look at the Chiefs last two TD's - identical plays. Guy goes in motion, right before the snap, retraces his steps and is wide open. First TD on the right, second on the left side. Weird that the Eagles D allowed that second TD on the same type of play.
@harrymills2770
@harrymills2770 Год назад
I think it was a flaw in their training, with coaches yelling at people to hustle to get re-set for the shift. And they did totally different assignments when it went from 3x1 to 2x2. They were so drilled-and-killed on that response to motion that they weren't even looking. Slay, on the left side, looked like he was one of the leaders making sure everybody shifted in practice, maybe. It IS more efficient for everybody to shift a little bit than to mirror with 1 defender all across the formation. It wasn't EXACTLY the same play, because the 1st one, Corndog, is a planned run with an option to throw. I think the one to Skyy Moore was a pass play involving the same motion. I agree that it was pretty embarrassing to be caught twice with the same trick. Because it WAS the exact same trick. I'm just relaying what the Chiefs said, afterward. To you or me, though, it was the same exact thing.

Simms made a comment yesterday, I think, about how even when the Eagles were marching up and down the field and hitting on long bombs, I was thinking The Chiefs were stoning the run, and even if Hurts were playing lights-out - which he pretty much DID - those shots were low-percentage, and he was making them under duress. That's what the Chiefs wanted, and even when Philly won the down, I was thinking "Chiefs got what they wanted, and only JUST missed a tackle for loss (or minimal gain), which was basically what Simms said about that lopsided first half. The Chiefs were taking risks, but they were calculated risks that forced Philly to take risks. The clock and scoreboard were saying one thing in the first half, but what I was seeing on the field was a game where the Chiefs seemed to ALMOST have the upper hand, and Philly was barely squirming out of it, with great plays from the quarterback. It hadn't happened, YET, but I got a real sense that the KC D was gong to get some stops. Even the long TD to AJ Brown could've gone either way, if McDuffie didn't wrong-foot himself. It was a great highlight, and he DID keep it away from Thornhill, but on any other play, that's a contested catch. AJ can still win that contest against a not-tall corner, but the odds really start stacking up against the success of the next shot of that sort. Yeah, it sucked for KC that it resulted in a touchdown, but they did NOT march down the field like a juggernaut, and THEIR defense went right back on the field in a first half that was DOMINATED by Philadelphia in time of possession. So the defense, after a bunch of jumping up and down in celebration, went back on the field, and the KC D got what turned out to be about the only rest the KC D got in that first half. I was STILL worried about the KC offense. In the end, Philly LOOKED more aggressive against the run than it actually was. 8 men in the box, but the MLB is FROZEN. The vaunted front 4 is thinking "pass" and Pacheco runs right by them. The KC interior went toe-to-toe with the best, deepest interior d-line in the league, if not in NFL history. Trey Smith was reach-blocking the DT to his left, who was shaded to the center's left shoulder. The KC interior o-line put on a clinic. Andrew Wylie looked like he spent all year preparing for this game, and the brain trust schemed the rest of his problems away, with a perfect chip by a TE or back. On more than one snap, I saw a TE take on Riddick, with Wylie just waiting behind the TE, taking Riddick out of the play entirely. By the 4th quarter, the Philly D-line looked kind of tired, and Wylie won a surprising number of 1-on-1's, with more guys out in the pattern, as well as a surprising number of running plays. I remember hearing about #97 for 2 weeks, and watching our front move him wherever they wanted, springing Pacheco on the regular, AND destroying defenders on the 2nd level. Definitely an overall team win. I love Tyreek Hill, but THIS team win was in large part a result of NObody being selfish about the ball. You need to take your shots when they're there, or when it's a desperate situation, but not just because #10 is in the vicinity. The KC offense IS more lop-sided towards the pass, generally, and it sets up the run. I think this offense was better built to exploit the middle of the field with quick slants and short and intermediate crossers. They're very strong but they come with a higher attrition rate, because you're putting them in heavy traffic. Guys they can't see, vectoring in high, low, and in-between, from every direction. Guys get hurt that way. So you have to use it sparingly, but you want it there when you need it, especially in a single-elimination tournament. None of those WRs are stars, but all of them know their jobs and catch everything. Good, not great speed. Juju was signed as much for his toughness as anything else. He has a little of that D-Bowe DNA, where DBs are more likely to get hurt trying to take his head off as he is in their attempt. His injury history has more to do with the tendency to throw to him in tight windows in position to get lit up. He's tough, but he gets put in harm's way in the clutch. It's something you need in the clutch, but you save it for the biggest games. part of its power is you don't give up enough film to draw much scrutiny. You don't want it to be your bread and butter, all season, because you want that player peaking from December to February, and you don't want defenses pinning their ears back to smoke your guy when he does the predictable thing. That's part of why Sammy Watkins was so great for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. In his case, the corner route wasn't putting him in harm's way. It was just taking advantage of a 1-on-1, with the safety snoozing. They put SF to sleep against Sammy and that's when he struck. Unless it's Travis Kelce or Patrick Mahomes, having a KC Chief on your fantasy team is a fool's bet. There just isn't anybody with gaudy stats, outside of that.

Comment was super long but i enjoyed reading it. I tried to explain to people who overlooked the chiefs O&D line that the chiefs Defense and OLine show up in tough games when they're needed and that it will happen against the eagles in the SB. My examples were the complete shutting down of Derrick Henry the last 2-3 times we have played the titans. Another example was how we shut down the Bengals in the AFC championship perine and Mixon didn't produce nearly as effectively as they have all season or previously against us. We also slowed down Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins. Everybody has been saying chiefs defense sucks but i think the people saying that don't really understand what they're watching more less believing what people online have to say about the chiefs. All the sports analyst's for most of the broadcast stations all picked the eagles to run over the chiefs. Just so many doubters around the world. I'm hoping that after the masterful display our offense line had with 0 sacks the entire game against arguably the best DLine in the league. They had a dynamic run offense that we stifled the entire game besides allowing hurts to run which is harder to cover than a RB. I think the chiefs earned respect for there Defense and offensive line

A good balanced spreadsheet is the most efficient way to win! The chiefs didn’t rely on the pass as usual in these types of situations as history has shown, and they knew the eagles were betting the house on a heavy passing attack! You have to give it up for Andy! He leveled the play book with the running game! Not just Pacheco and McKinnon but Mahomes breaking big runs opened the play action and motion jet sweeps fakes for big big plays in the game! A QB doesn’t need 400 yards and 5 touchdowns to win a MVP, to be labeled the greatest, throw a very efficient game, high completions with a very accurate ball, but always leaving the defense worrying about the possible run, kept the chiefs ahead even when they were down! Jalen said it best in the third quarter , he said he knew they were going to lose, after the chiefs moved down the field so fast to open the second half! Mahomes is that good!
