Ngl that did better than I thought. At least with some of these APDS rounds, it feels like the front two thirds shreds off pretty quickly, but the last third just keeps on going with little erosion for a great distance. You'd of course expect the erosion rate of the round to lessen as it's speed slows, but it feels like that last nub just keeps on going
That's because the front half is a ballistic cap, meant to make the round more aerodynamic and made of a softer steel. The part that keeps going through the armor is the penetrating core of the round. The cap is meant to shear off like that.
If you still do these, could you try some EvE Online weapons? Like 1400mm howitzer and or 3500mm artillery wtih titanium sabot or depelted uranium shells? Maybe vs object 490?
I think it would be interesting to see if the dimensions of the material matter. like if 10mm of steel behaves differently from 100mm when shot by 7.62mm and 76.2mm respectively. i doubt you will see this comment but i hope someone sees it.
