Glad to see you free bro, I worked in the kitchen at Salinas valley state prison with you for over a year and I was there when Mikey the white guy broke it down to you after you socked him in his mouth, I never thought I'd hear from you again, Gonzo from Lennox Mexican Power West LA, take care, stay positive, you were a real one, don't look back, we ain't perfect, just remember your struggle, cuidate bro!!!
Once a murderer, always a murderer Did the victims family forgive ChinaDog? I know the street life, criminals understand and stick with criminals Murderers understand and stick with Murderers. Would you trust a stranger but a christian whom was a former criminal to babysit your child? Now, would you let a cold blooded murderer turned Christian, to babysit your child? Do you truly in your heart trust him to do such or you just goin wit the crowd? And saying what can gain likes I think he should of gotten executed. Think from the perspective of the victim and the victims family. Think as a law abiding citizen.
@@btskiller6990 but the guy that died wasn’t technically a victim. did you see the whole video? the guy that got shot flashed his gun first. he knew what he was gonna get himself into when he showed him his gun.
@@OBVIOUSLYEVELYN i can mad dog a person all dog, no grounds for a shooting, Mak didnt draw the weapon. As you can see, Mak got his gun taken from him, so ChinaDog didnt need to shoot him, but stomp him out, outside where he was dragged to. The shooting was unnecessary. ChinaDog is a Cold Blooded Murderer. Why are you defending his actions? And the guy that died IS a victim, a shooting victim. WC didnt shoot until they knew Mak had no gun. You down play the event, and are borderline victim blaming. Shame on you.
@@btskiller6990 you can not flash a gun and not use it !! they gave him a chance from the start by walking away but he proceed to talk more shit while they were walking away. you can not act cocky and think nothing is going to happen , the so called victim is also part of a gang which they both are ! stop acting like the person who died was innocent ! “ once a murderer always a murderer “ that’s not necessarily true , would you say the same for those who had to defend themselves from an intruder ?
@@OBVIOUSLYEVELYN you can not flash your gun and not use it. That is a street rule, which doesnt apply in the courtrooms. Acting cocky doesnt warrant being shot, not a physical threat, only an verbal attack on ego. Without audio we cannot ascertain wether Mak made a verbal threat on ChinaDogs life. There for we cannot choose the narrative, ChinaDog used "feared for life" excuse, without audio. The person that died is not innocent, but he is a shooting victim. ChinaDog point blank shot a man twice in the head who was unarmed, and was running for cover after being hit a few times already. Self defence home intruders is another scenario. If even if this was a home invasion scenario, you cannot gun a man down after you've disarmed him, legally. So you implying, that i think self defence killings are murder, is you cappin, your narrative you tried to make mine, lame attempt. See how far shooting and killing an unarmed man, will get you in the eyes of the courts. ChinaDog had no threat from Mak, after Mak was disarmed. Only other ABZ gun was a 32. Cal which jammed. ChinaDog has right to shoot towards the 32. Cal gunner, but he shot Mak, then proceed to chase him down and put 2 in his head. The chase down part is the cold blooded part. This was a ABZ hangout, WC had no intention of playing pool. ABZ are meant to show force, its their turf. But Fuck both these gangs, I sympathise for the victims human rights, and family. You sympathise with the murderer and try to justify his actions. Have you had any family, who have been victims, do you victim blame them?
He was my neighbor at Salinas Valley D yard building 5 back in 1997. Awesome to see the Lord showed him mercy and he’s out. I was a lifer too and Jesus set me free as well.
China dog was a straight G back then in that pool Hall damm , straight grab the dude . Dude homies coming at him with pool sticks but china dog never budge lol
I couldnt think of a better way to kick off the first episode with this guest...good shit johnny and thanks to China dog for spreading his message and sharing your story. 💯
I grew up wanting to be Wah Ching but even though i had big homies rep the set, i never told them i had interest to join. Probably saved my life. Bless these two.
Not worth it bro. When you in the pin only your family will show love and send you money not your homies. All your homies gonna say is that you was a real ass G that put in work for the set that’s it.
@@thaistomp Nah bruh the only girls u getting being a gangsta are some hoe ass hood rat only. Real pretty educated Asian girl don’t wanna be with some dude who’s been locked up with bad records. Hypothetical: Would you hire a cold blooded murderer turned Christian to babysit your 5 yo baby? Would you hire a rapist turned Christian to baby sit your 5yo baby? Do we treat rapists turned Christian, the same way we do with ChinaDog?, Which he receives praise and love. He did not kill a man by accident, he executed a young man. Multiple body shots and 2 shot in the head point blank range. Criminals are criminals for life, now just with a new found restraint.
man i miss my brother…humblest homie, turned a new leaf…every time we were at the bars or the canteen line, and we started going into the bulls*** stories or woofin, the homie chieu would say something positive to us…like a good ass big brother that really loved us. man that dude got me to go to chapel on tuesday nights, and then on sunday mornings, i did out of respect for my homie, but i started changing and got cleaned up too. and then i paroled right before the homie. he would be singing with the choir, hands up all in the air! can’t really sing for nothing, but his heart was in the right place…i started singing and clapping and carrying a bible too after a while, i didn’t care about the image anymore, it was a front anyway…the homie is a genuine humble good man…i didn’t start my time with him, but when i bumped into him up in that level 2 we got found suitable at, he was the kind of person you know that changed…i remember coming in at yard recall at a level 4, i seen him on that pool hall video. i said to myself why the fu** is the homies beefing down south for…and then the dude under the pool table…i said the homie goona go to death row or at least get lwop’d then after all the years got to a level 2 and i meet chieu, i knew this dude was facing his demons and changing his life…silent doing thousands of pull-ups hella quiet staring out into wherever inside our minds playing over the movies, the regrets…the loneliness…the guilt, shame, pain…all in between each set of pull ups…for the whole yard of we blessed to get through it without a down on the yard or fake alarm, I was blessed to meet an honest humble man that wasn’t afraid of admitting his wrongs…that’s a real man…honesty…
Damn this man is a hood legend. Didnt think I'd ever see a China Dog interview. Salute to Johnny and Lucky for bringing this to the table. Salute to Chieu for turning his life around and receiving a second breath of life to live it in positivity. Blessings 💯
ChinaFrog Yang shot an unarmed man, i didnt see ChinaFrog shoot when Mak flashed his gun 😂 Mak got caught slippin, yep ChinaFrog couldnt fight so he started shooting afterwards 🤣 Didnt want a shootout More like ChinaChicken Yang
@@stevep4236 Nope, Mak didnt pull out his weapon, he flashed it. 1st chance to kill if gun was a real threat - Chinafrog didnt shoot on site when Mak flashed his gun, ChinaFrog waited till Mak turned his back, then dragged him to the ground, then dragged him outside. ChinaFrog didnt shoot Mak outside, he shot into the poolhall crowd, only after Mak ran back inside the poolhall ChinaFrog shot Mak multiple times in the body, chased him down and put a final 2 shots in Maks head. No clause for self defence, he already disarmed the man. ChinaFrog and his crew had the better of Mak, and Mak was alone outside but made it back inside. Mak just got jumped, and ChinaFrog has a gun in his hand firing into crowd, Tell me whos in "fear of life"? Surely not ChinaFrog!?
@kate87934 we're not talking sports or academics here. We're talking gang culture so yes It does. Gang culture is built on top of violence sadly but thats the reality. We're not talking about the morality of all this. Reputations are built on the amount of destruction you can inflict on your oposition. When people can turn around and are no longer a part of that destruction. It should be applauded.
Chinadog should do an interview with Marvin Mercado. 2 legends in the 1990's Los Angeles, Asian Gang world at the time. 1) Chinadog: The Wah Ching who killed " kicker " from Asian Boyz in the pool hall. & 2) Marvin Mercado: Leader of the infamous 818 Van Nuys, Asian Boyz Gang who went on a 626 Wah Ching revenge killing spree called " Summer Madness". Both ended up in prison & both found god. This interview brings closure to MANY asians that were young people in the 1990's generation. What would bring final closure would be an interview with Marvin Mercado and Chinadog.
That’d be cool and all but Marvin doing life, the guy smoked 8 people he aint never coming home. But I can see someone trying to interview him through a prison call or something
These are the type of men I want for a brother and friend in my life. Not the ones saying I ain't bad or down if I haven't done 10, 15, 20 years in Folsom, Pelican Bay or San Quentin.
I remember being in high school when that clip was shown all over the news. For us who were around the same age, who were out here on these streets gang banging, it was wild to see something like that caught on camera. We were all getting into things like that frequently all over southern ca. Looking back, at that time a lot of stores especially pool halls and similar establishments rarely had cameras. RiP to the man who lost his life. And welcome home Chieu, my condolences for the loss of your father. Enjoy your freedom, Brotha.
I am about the same age and remember this shooting. I was going back and forth from SF to So Cal and always knew folks caught up in that life and now to see this and to see him and the change is a great thing to see. Hearing him talk about his father and how much his fathers approval and faith in him still hits for me. Time changes things, Time changes people. Positive future to all!
Us older ones know all too well how it ends. We die, we OD, we go to prison and then lose our minds until we are all alone and everything we stood for falls to the next generation to make the same mistakes. Thank you, it’s podcasters and guests like this that can save the ones we can’t. We get old and no one knows what we did for the hood. The losses we took. Why we are crazy. Why we are broken. I’m barely getting clean after using heroin off and on since I was a kid because I saw my parents and the older homies doing it I thought that was what we did if you really want to be known along with the work you put in. If you could get higher, drunker, crazier then the next man you were feared. Or so we thought. In the end it was all for nothing. The time I spent behind bars. On the streets dealing. All the money I made. The bitches. The adventures. Now the hood is gentrified and I can’t even recognize the streets I thought I’d die for. It’s hard. I don’t know if it gets better. I hope it does for the new generations if not for us. You guys help push that agenda.
What a moving testimony. To see God's grace move in both of your lives, and to see the change in your hearts is a testimony of how good God is. Praise the Lord...
Absolutely powerful! Put God first every successful person failed many times before they became successful. Don’t be hard on your self enjoy the Journey, if you’re reading this god loves you and has a plan for you. PUT GOD 1ST.
I was from Van Nuys Asian Boyz during the 1990s.Not many people know that Van Nuys ABZ was actually a confederation 4 of cliques! Which consist of Valerio ABZ, Asian Boy Style (ABS), San Fernando Valley ABZ, and San Gabriel Valley ABZ.At that time, we were small, even when combined. And after the China Dog pool hall incident, we rolled as one against the Wah Ching. We were embarrassed by the media, which pushed us to press the WC.So you could say, China Dog made us who we were, at that time.Without the China Dog incident, there would be no Van Nuys ABZ!
@@nguyenvnghi1, of course I knew him! R.I.P. OG Big Boxer! He was the Shot Caller of Anaheim ABZ back in the day.His clique today is known as Garden Grove ABZ.
Its finally good to actually have a former person who was apart of it and around it, speak on this. Despite the tragic things that went on at that time, you cleared the air. I remember watching the clips on youtube about the shooting and how ppl were talking about rumors and one sided stories about who was who. All love tho from a 🇱🇦 homie!
In Galatians 1 Paul said "For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles..." God has the power to transform anyone's life! No sin is too great for God. Amen brother. God bless 🙌
@@sunnyboy8644 It said on another youtube video on Ventura in Sherman Oaks or something. I recall a flyer back in the day said Chocolate City Productions.. Alot of party crews back then. Basically alot of foo's would be there RPB, JFX, ABB, etc.. I don't know why they would think 626 WC would be at a flyer party in the 818. Throwing a grenade in that scenario was just irresponsible.
God is using you in a powerful way, Johnny! I pray that God continues to elevate and increase both you and Chieu. May God's favor and grace multiply as you both continue to do his work. I'm blessed to see what you are doing for the kingdom of Heaven!

You can never talk about God too much. This is a changed man that wants to create a new future for himself, not dwell on his violent past and bring back ptsd in the form of entertainment for others to promote.
@@NeonKue ok then label the video born again Christian prisoner finding God. don't make me click on Wah Ching Pool Hall shooter video and make me feel like I'm going to church
I thought this was a hard podcast to watch. It was awkward, too much “yeah”, mumbling and too soft spoken. I understand this is Johnny’s first podcast but he can do way better!! Johnny, I’m a Christian brother too. I want this podcast to blow up hand take over the internet!!!!! But bring more hype, energy and more confidence! I’m not here to talk down but just to encourage because I want your story to be known as well as others of how God changed these lives. Much love
Just alittle advice brother. Stay off the clapping button and maybe just let your quest speak on thier own. Without interrupting so much. As the viewer we want 2 hear thier story. Other then that qreat 1st show, congratulations. I pray 4 your success
Going through the system I can relate doing 27 years behind bars that’s a whole lot of missing out in the real world but to change it’s never too late Keep your head up and stay positive from young to old it’s never too late to become better
That pool hall was no joke. We went there once . Four homeboys just to shoot some pool . Let's just say all eyes were on us as if we stoled something. Luckily I ran into someone who I knew and nothing jumped off.
@@chinaboss6683 I believe the International Club was off of Rosemead closer to the 10 freeway. My experience was at the pool hall at 5 points where Vally Blvd crossed my Garvy Street.
I was born in 84' So I was six when 1990 hit, growing up throughout the '90s Fox used to have a ton of cop shows like America's most wanted in America's most violent police chases etc. I remember seeing this footage of the pool hall shooting on TV constantly through shows like that, not to glorify anything but that was a pretty famous hit, that footage went viral before the internet.
I'm getting cognitive dissonance watching Chieu. The infamous footage, his pics and this chill grown man seem like 2 completely different people. We all make mistakes I used to bang and did a lot of dumb shit back then. You did your time Chieu. Wish you nothing but peace and smooth sailing brother.
My 21 year old cousin died senselessly while she was eating at a restaurant when a gangbanger opened the door and fired randomly into the restaurant. The punk got life in prison. I went to every trial hearing. I hope he rots in jail and is never let out.
Deep stuff, I remember this Fox special. Man god is good, I love when those who lived that life change. A lot of people were lost during that time, I lost my best friend to senseless gang violence, he was just 14 years old.
Im a filipino I dont know what brought me here or I don't why this video was in my suggestion nway I would say Im glad I came across your channel I saw a sincere changed human being and it made me open up my eyes to look life in different perspective, God is great the message in this interview is so powerful.
Amazing show, gentlemen! Awesome testimony of one man's redemption and proof that our KING and Reedemer Jesus Christ is still in the miracle business. Romans 8:5-11 God bless 🙏🏼🕊❤️
Chieu broke it down so well for us to comprehend it. I feel his story. His pain. His journey. We live the same or similar life and lifestyle. Love that he’s calm and well spoken. Very professional. He carry’s himself and conducts thing really well. This video give me the strength and gives me the extra boost to go all the way. At the end it was all a lie. No one wins. It’s really a phenomenon, you beef in the streets then end up being friends behind the walls. It’s usually your closest friends that hurt you more than your enemies. Nothing to gain and show for at the end of the day but everything to lose.
@Jonny Chang, shout out to you and how you were able to overcome all those things that you went thru being a gang member before and how you were able to change your life around and was able to do so many great things to educate young people to stay away from gang life. Chieu Luong Yang is a good guy and he was able to adjust his life. My suggestion is for you to invite him back and have another interview about his life after he came back from prison, for example what's his daily routine now and does he go to the church on a weekly basis. Maybe he could help you run the episode on educating young people to stay away from gang life. Shout out to both of you guys for setting good example and being a good role models for young people.
As a fellow Brother in Christ, I am thankful to hear your testimony of His grace and His redemption story of your life. I am the same age and grew up in another part of the country and remember those hard and sad years of Asian gang violence in the early 90s and I also lost a childhood friend that same year. It is surreal that 30 years has past since this infamous incident that so many of us followed. I admit I haven't even thought about this story in so so many years. It's like a blink of an eye and we are now old(er) men.
Wow what a beautiful interview that touched my heart deep, without god we are nothing in this world.I did 5 years and everything he said it’s true, there’s no loyalty in prison all they do is use you and when they don’t need you you die.god bless this brother I know there’s a lot of people giving there life’s to Jesus Christ, because of this interview.Amen
Man the video of china dog at the pool hall was badass. Im not condoning his actions but he was the quiet one compared to the guy he shot who was running his mouth acting all gangster. The loudest one in the room is always the weakest and it showed in that video who was the real gangster
thanks to the homie for helping me see the truth and stay focused on the end game…thanks to the homie who put this together…i appreciate your goodness…good men right there.
He a big homie cause he killed Meanwhile the man working to support his family is a lame the game twisted the real gees and solid mfs are working for a living and never been to jail that's a man's man
I was 13 or 14 when that happened was very scary and afraid to go to high school.. I grew up in Westminster California.. gangs were very active back then. Pray for him and pray 🙏 for the victim too .. lord forgive you already sir
I remember seeing the surveillance video on one of the Gangland episodes years ago. It was super traumatizing to watch. It’s amazing to see to see how China Dog turned his life around.
I remember seeing the video on fox 11 news all these dudes were putting in work AZB and TRG were putting it down in orange county at the same time they wacked stuart Tay and buried him in a hole in a backyard shit was really popping back then had asian homies from both side these were wild times back then now one of my boys is doing life..
