+Rust Doper No , come on, It was good. But the part " If Im helping you you are really in... " JAJAJJAA this guy is so good cos he is good at teaching and he makes it so much more fun...
+Jessica Crawford when Ben asked about a particular year in the beginning of the vid I said "eighty something" out loud, only to hear the same thing said a second later lol. It happens often with Ben's lectures
I'm very happy that GM Finegold rates my skill so highly. Sorry, but by move 10, I made at least 13 mistakes already. I'm not very good at this whole chess thing. But I appreciate the confidence! I totally believe you in regards to Belgium and the Netherlands moving, don't worry. Very convincing there.
The funny thing about chess is that, if you think about it, multiple things can go wrong with just one mistake. This, is it one mistake, or is it multiple?
Man I never thought watching chess videos would be this entertaining. Thanks, Ben! You're the gateway drug to the rest of the chess club's videos (I like them more after watching Ben)
ben, im from argentina, i just love your way of teaching, your humor, and everything. Im even considering going to ST louis to learn chess. thanks for everything
+Ramon Israelit Ufff buen plan. Este man es MUY divertido... La parte de " cuando te ayudo yo es por que ... " es increible .... Hace mirar estos videos el doble de bueno... Estaria buenisimo ir alla cuando este este man ...
Yay, Ben reads our comments!! BEN, *THANK YOU* FOR ALL THE LECTURES, AND FOR BEING 110% AWESOME! I can even forgive you for making fun of Vishy! xD I'd love to attend the lectures, but I'm not in the right continent for that. I've also lived in Belgium for a little bit, though :D Now, this particular lecture was as informative and as entertaining as expected - and got me interested in an opening I've never played. Nice!
Don't ever stop making videos. You teach great chess and you're a funny guy. I'm rated over 1800 in blitz, which is good, but I still have so much more to learn. And I can watch one of your videos more than once, because I know that I will not catch everything the first time around, in fact, I don't think I'll ever catch everything. Keep going, you're great!
I like Ben's lectures for beginners but not his advanced classes. He often shows just his own favourite lines omitting more general lunes or the best defense (or attack) lines of the opponent.
because I watch ben finegold lectures to sleep recently I started hearing random "attacks the queen again, yummy yummy yummy, attacks the queen again.." voices in my dreams lol
Maaaannnn you should make a video every 2 days. And in your channel , if we cant see you its not the same. Man you are the one that is funny and makes a chess lecture so much more fun. You should do what matojelic does with this same system . I dont know if jokes would work without a crowd that much . But show your face in your own channel you are the best part .
Hi St. Louis Chess Club. You once had a series where people could ask questions about opening problems they have. I do have one as well in the Semi-Slav (with black) and would be interested in a GM helping me out. Is it possible to get included in a future video or can I donate to the chess club in order to be? Thx in advance
At 9:10, my stockfish at depth 25 said 0.65 for white. At depth 29 it said 0.32 and it's stays confused at that evaluation through to depth 40. Interesting position.
You're really funny ben. Honestly... it is in the way, that probably not so many get or like (i dont know), but i totally get it. Its hilarious... In the beginning i thought you were just another annoying american (im from Europe, Larsenland), but after watching just one of your lectures i was hook. You're hilarious - also because when you make a joke and ppl dont respond ur like "no? okay" and then you just continue. Keep going. Im not gonna tell you 'dont change', cuz even the magician from Riga could never change you, im sure.
Ben have you ever had a chance to meet Bobby Fischer and if so tell us story about it in one of your lectures, if it there is anything interesting in it?
can anybody tell me, Where I went in the following moves: 1. d4-d5 2.c4-Nc6 3.Nc3-Nf6 4.Bg5-dc4 5.e3-e5 6.de5-Q*Q 7.Rd1-Ne5 8.B*N-g*B 9.f4-Ng4 10.Nd5- Black's Position is bad ........ Where did I Go Wrong?
TheVishwas123 first, you accepted the gambit. Expect to be punished for that, lol. More importantly, it looks like you started an attack with zero development or preparation. Of course, that's just my amateur opinion...
GM Ben is not just knowledgeable, he is also very entertaining. A lot of chess tutorial are boring although the topics are very interesting. Not with GM Ben.
Thanks, Andrew Isabelle. The thing is, I've watched almost all of Ben's videos and NONE of Kummers'….yet. So, basically, I will eventually come across the answer.
+EvilSecondTwin Kummer plays simple, principled, dogmatic chess i.e. low rated chess, so Ben is always making fun of him and the kinds of moves Kummer would play i.e. Terrible!! So yea I would say they are good friends
liam314 Makes sense. Thank you for the reply. And to be fair, I have watched only 1 MIke Kummer video (so far) and yes, they both have different styles.
Yes, give Gm Finegold a raise, and put him in live comentary, Seriawan is boring and has a funny name. Also Finegold for president of FIDE, no more UFO abductions, thats just terrible.
Would have liked to see f4 at 24:30 forcing the king to retreat. Then you can hope for ...Kd4 to checkmate in the middle of the board :P Terrible, most likely.
although his chess strength cannot be denied, GM Ben Finegold spazzes-out so hard i am unable to sit through his lectures. what i'm saying here is REAL TALK.
