Great! Real! Thank you! What about when you are director in charge of a classroom? No chance to walk in to the classroom, when you are since 7.30 by yourself, no bathroom break, lunch (what is lunch?)… Frustrating at least😔
For me, it is autonomy in my classroom that motivates me. I would rather earn minimum wage with freedom to set up and run the classroom as I see fit that earn a competitive wage and be micromanaged.
I’m coming from being a lead teacher for 8 years I have been offered assistant director position any tips for me. This is a new position and I don’t want to do it wrong
how about we think more of the employees. Like pay rises. If you take care of the employees, your business will flourish. "You get what you pay for." true as gold. If I was paid more at my job, there's so much more I could do. And you care more. Every year I have to go to meetings; witch I hate for my hours. And it never fails I hear "you have the most important job in the world, you mold young children." okay I could care less on hearing that it's getting old. I hate hearing " your NEVER going to be paid what you are worth." Well not if you think like that we'r not, that makes me soooo mad!!! Childcare needs drastic improvement in all areas. Pay, rules, ratios, ect. oh binafits too. I don't like that there is no protection for daycare providers. Any accident that's happens the teacher is always responsiable. Like it her/he's fault that an act of god happened to the child. Childcare givers need a union bad.
+Krystle Canales For sure, lots of my clients will pay above market for their employees and have seen great success as far as employee satisfaction and retention. It is a delicate issue though, as I understand a lot of providers do not feel comfortable paying more, so I understand your frustration. However, it is also important to remember that employees aren't motivated by ONLY monetary factors and it's essential to create a winning and motivational work environment where employees can flourish.
No not all about the money But in a pie chart it's almost 50%. It's the most stressful job/career their is. Did you know that we are more stressed then airliner traffic contolers. I can very well believe that. I know the other big half is the directors/the management. I work for 7.50 an hour and that's nothing, but it's something and with no benafits either. I hate having to work two jobs and I barely scrap by. I I hate moving from job to job, I like to stay in one place if I can. I love the kids but my pay really needs to change. As for not feeling comfortable paying more, they could not live like I do and fellow employees could. No way. They may not be rich but they are comfortable enough to have a MK purse and wear Mary Kay makeup. And have great health insur. But this is my case, not anyone else. As great as creating a winning and motivational enviornment is, for us it's not in the top 5 for a lot of people.
