Well actually I myself am saying that Sam did not use excruciating in the right context, excruciating means painful and/or agonizing so it does not make sense saying that the amount of pressure on a person (mentally) is painful, also I am 10 years old just correcting him

I like his personality and willingness to speak out for himself while the other children were laughing at him. It's underwhelming to see Sam's parents hardly speaking up for their child. Howbeit, he deserved what he requested for.

Well the ones who started laughing are children. They might be like Einstein but they are still kids. He was speaking out for himself but the way he did was a little rude. Someone has to at least come first then things will happened. But no one likes being first. (For children) parents should tell their kids to deal with it and move on

The mother thought Sam's behavior was shocking. Well, I thought it was shocking how her son and all of the other children laughed at him and made fun. Sam was drawn to go first most of the rounds and it was a random drawing but the pressure was getting intense. These kids put very high expectations on themselves and so do their parents so have some grace!
