CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Charred Chucky attacks Andy (Alex Vincent) and Karen (Catherine Hicks) who shoots him to pieces.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Child's Play seems to have been concocted by a parent who went berserk after standing in line for hours on end to purchase a Cabbage Patch doll in the early 1980s. The film opens with serial killer Brad Dourif taking refuge in a doll factory. Dourif is killed by the cops, but not before he has invoked a voodoo curse which transfers his soul into one of the dolls. That particular doll, nicknamed Chuckie, is unwittingly purchased by Catherine Hicks for her son Alex Vincent. Several murders occur shortly thereafter; all evidence points to Alex, who insists that his cherub-faced doll is responsible. Detective Chris Sarandon, the man responsible for Dourif's death, doesn't swallow Alex's story, but he agrees to investigate because he's sweet on Alex's mom. The slasher-flick ending of Child's Play would seem to have settled Chuckie's hash for good and all, but guess again--the film spawned numerous sequels.

I actually saw Alex Vincent in person at the 2013 NYC Comic Con. He was there for a panel celebrating 20 years of Chucky, and the release of Curse of Chucky. Someone in the audience asked him if it was strange to be involved with the franchise again after so long, and he just smiled and said "I always knew Chucky would be back for me eventually..."

What many don't realise in this movie is that Chucky retains his human strength , so she's basically trying to fight off a grown man that's mentally nuts, all the people that say they'd just pick him up or throw him and stuff don't get that he's strong AF, this makes it more scary knowing she was actually overpowered in terms of physical power in this scene.

The one thing that always bugged me about this scene is. Why when chuck's head get blown off the knife in his hand is suddenly gone? I think it would've looked even creepier if he never let go of it, like he's really determined to kill you.

That bugged me too, and I totally agree, but, I suspect the reason why is the state of practical effects at the time, they probably had difficulty safely doing the effect and didn't want the knife to fly out of the hand at someone or something along those lines. I also totally agree that it would have been creeptastic for him to never let go of it. I think what I would have done is either A, he never lets go of it, B, her shot hits his hand and knife flies offscreen (only hand shot off), or C, her shot is lucky and hits the knife, destroying it in a subtle foreshadow to Chucky's imminent defeat.

All of Brad Dourif's voiceover work for Chucky was recorded in advance so they could match up Chucky's mouth with the words. Because of this, Dourif rarely ever appeared on set during the "doll" scenes. Instead, recordings of his voice would be played back for Alex Vincent to go by.

The last knife stick at 1:17 when she screams in terror after the knife had cut her once and Chucky is stabbing through the door close to her face, was great acting by the actress. I felt her terror.

I was 2 years old when this movie came out. I was 3 or 4 when i saw it at my stepmoms apartment in eagan. My dad and my brothers let me watch it. This scene particular gave me serious nightmares for a LONG time. Now i laugh that i was scared about it..but this was the first horror movie I ever watched.

The second one wasn't bad either to be fair. Obviously doesn't beat the original but had some really good moments like when the sister is on the swing and accidentally discovers the buried Chucky doll underneath and realises Andy was telling the truth all along. Reminds me of when Andy's mother sees the batteries fall out the box in the original. Great moments. But beyond that, yes, completely agree that they became cringey and just plain disrespectful.

I remember watching this part many years ago. The way burned Chucky looks was so scary. & even with today's effects on him, none are as creepy as this.
