The never-ending quest for likes on social media is all about validation from friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. Social feedback is literally rewarding when it’s positive, and literally punishing when it’s negative. These days, one of the most common ways to get likes is to show more skin and edit photos to look nearly unrecognizable - which is having a negative effect on teens’ self-image.
